These things are interesting. The same old arguments are brought out to justify peoples opinions. I particularly like the "I'm not racist/homophobic etc because my cousin/friedns are black/gay/man united supporters" as if that means anything!

It is a tricky subject.If a wargames proprietor was a convicted peadophile I guess many people would want to know about it so they could choose not to buy from them. So, how do we decide whether it's ok to 'notify' the public about someones political history?

I have an idea, why don't we get an editor to make the decisions and respect that even of we don't agree? Radical I know! With so much snipped I don't know if the editor got it right this time or not. I did laugh at the commenty after his saying he didn't like mobs or witchhunts as there was an irony to that!

Anyway, maybe the new rule will help!

I accept that this crime is horrific and disgusting, but either we hang such people, or lock them away for ever, or, on release, we have to accept they have served their sentence and that's that. Its a horribly grey area of course, as I wouldn't want my kids living next door to one, but, rightly or wrongly, short of banishing such people to a remote island on release, they have to live and work somewhere.

Not that I think you can in any way compare membership of a legal political party (and whether you happen to hate their views, that is the fact of the matter at this time) to a conviction of paedophilia of course.

With my knowledge of the criminal justice system the sentence would not have fitted the crime and therefore he does not deserve a second chance. He will have one though but I would not want to be the one supporting him in anyway. Of course we probably all do unknowingly at some point. Sometimes I believe we should not forgive people. If we were able to make sure the person had changed and would not reoffend then fine, but we do not have the capacity to monitor these people in society and I do not trust them.

As for comparing one to membership of a legal political party that is a tricky one to comment on, so I shall choose my words carefully. Aimed at noone in particular I would quite happily categorise the vicious nasty racists of the BNP of just over ten years ago in the same class. However, I cannot comment on their members now as that would be against the rules.
I would also like to add that I would give someone who joined and then left at some point a second chance as I know how extremist groups can make themselves sound reasonable and if someone sees them for how they really are then that should be applauded.

Anyway, I don't want to go on and do not wish to break any rules so will end there and hopefully the thread will drift away into oblivion.

In case I need to explain. My point was that you really shouldn't accuse or imply individuals of being something or doing things just by association! And by that I mean anyone.

Also my term "Your Sort" didn't refer to anyone's creed, colour or sexual persuasion but rather to those who like to express an opinion (very loudly. They're very keen on they're own (and anyone who agrees with them) free speech and democratic rights but quite happy to deny others that don't agree with them.

Often they're are the particular sort of person who when they don't get what They want then their first reaction is that it's always because of some sort of discrimination re: their creed, colour or sexual persuasion.

Typically if anyone dares to express a different view they'll immediately do a hissy-fit and starts throwing around accusations at the offender. i.e. they're liars/a rascist/anti-semitic/homophobic in an attempt to bully them & shout them down.

and so it starts again….sigh….the I don't learn and want the final word sort are back!!…Ah well…where's my popcorn.

Just found this thread and am very surprised by the attitudes on it.

I've bought stuff from roland for years, met him several times at the shows and have always found him to be a really nice guy. I certainly don't intend to stop buying from him because he used to belong to a political party that is not known for it's benevolent attitudes! But as far as I know is legal and gets a fair few votes at elections.

I have very strong negative views about the labout party, but would not stop being friends with someone let alone buying stuff from them just because they were a member.

I would think we're all grown up enough to decide for ourselves who to buy from & who not to buy from, and to decide on whatever reason suits us personally. It certainly isn't for anyone to seek to impose their own decision on others.

Isn't this sort of thing completely unacceptable? He then goes on to make a group attack on people in Wales.

And his mention of child molestation is worded in such a way as to be an obvious attack on Bulldog.
