There appears to be something of a new trend in the video games industry (as well as their concept artists) as to what soldiers will wear on their heads in the future.

Anyone aware of a similar trend in the miniatures industry? An argument may be made for some of the Pig Iron Heavy Infantry helmets. Any others?

Sorry… For people like me with less than stelar internet connection, loading those big images is a real pain. If someone could point out a way to link them rather than make them appear on page, I would be very grateful.

Instead of letting the system automatically ID the images (or posting them inside [ img ] tags), put the image location inside [ url ] tags.

It's tough to explain, but what you need to type is "[ url ] paste picture link [ /url ]", but without the spaces. You can't have spaces between the "url" or "/url" and the square brackets, or between the start of the link location and the square brackets.

A problem with those helmets is that you can't get a proper sight picture with them. Sure, if you assume that the heads-up display will always work you don't need to put the gun up to your shoulder to see. Also, having a weapon shouldered helps manage the recoil and makes some weapons more reliable.

Thanks. Images are now safely hidden behind links.

I can see what you mean from a technical standpoint but then again, I can see why walkers are silly from a technical standpoint and that didn't prevent me from buying a handful of AT-43 Firetoads…

Well, my take might be that on the more advanced suits, if you have taken enough damage to disable the vision system and HUD, it may just be that the wearer is likely no longer fighting. The same for EMP and such that if the suit is knocked out, the wearer likely can no longer move. Most of the helmets in the pictures look like they have visors that may open or lift up if needed. I think that the armored visors make more sense if the heavy armor is really warranted since otherwise the face is always going to be a major weak point that is always vulnerable if you have to have it sticking out to fire.

Well a recent report from the latest war the US is in, determined that I think it was another 40% of the wounds that was caused by blast effect could be prevented by a mandible guard and face shield. So it is a matter of time before US troops go into battle wiith full face protection. So why not also use the visor as a HUD with weapon targeting also. Kids are use to all the information on video games now, so will have no problems with it.

Well, I've heard that some shooting teams use a full-face helmet to protect their hearing (they shoot so much that even the noise that enters through you mouth will make you lose hearing), but I haven't been able to find a picture.
