Seems at present to be a decent bit of interest with some about Sumeria. Got me fired up to get 2 of the new Cutting Edge Akkadian chariots done and up on blog. I believe these are the only actual 28mm Akkadian chariots around. Donkeys are superbly done and in bad mood! This is a nice army alternative to Sumerians. A basic Impetus army can be fielded with little cost and look great. chariotgamer.blogspot.com |

Just a shame that it took him over two years to come out with these! I bought several Cutting Edge armies, had a few enjoyable games with them, but got tired of waiting for the chariots and war carts to be released. It would be so nice if manufacturers/sculptors actually released a mostly complete range at one time. |

Nice work as always, Colin. I like those Gutians too. Best, Dean |

@Colin: That is very nice work! @nnascati: Renegade had released their Chinese Warring States range around six years ago, and have yet to release a single chariot! |

It would be so nice if manufacturers/sculptors actually released a mostly complete range at one time. Do you have any idea how expensive that would be? In sculpting costs? Mold costs? (Masters then Production molds) Metal Costs? |

HappyW- those figures and painting look amazing and almost real. Now I thought I had mine looking good but these have blown me away. Anymore links to these photos and your progress would be very much appreciated. Also Dessert scenery looks perfect ? dessert mat. |

Happy Wanderer, those are superb. Your painting is ultra fast as the first Battle-Wagons only went out last week. Top work. I would love to use your pics on my site. Can you e-mail me about this perhaps with the jpegs. It would be much appreciated and I will of course credit you. Pete info@cuttingedgeminiatures.com |

With regard to comment higher above about delay etc. The committement has more than be made but not only bringing out the Sumerian Battle cars but going further with platform cars and proto chariots. Then we need to look at all the rest of packs including Mitanni chariots which are just out. The ranges are being completed without due to being a less popular period lots of sales I would guess. I bought in faith that the chariots would come and showed my support by buying spearmen etc. Sculpting to this standard does not I am sure come cheap. |

Colin, Pete, Thanks for those kind words. The paint job really does reflect what are some absolutely gorgeous sculpts. If anyone is remotely interested in this era then make sure you check out Cutting Edge minis as they are an absolute pleasure to paint. I got these figures only a week ago and they were very quickly completed. The desert mat is the desert terrain from Monday Knight Productions – a very nice playing surface and color. If you allow me to indulge you a bit more here are a few more pics.
Cheers

Thanks for more photos. Magazine quality IMHO. A blog would be nice to follow more of your work on these. The red on the shield looks very authentic. What colour of red? |

Happy, are you going to base them? Particularly the Battle-Wagon as that will be a bit awkward moving it around the table. Still can't believe you painted all that in a week. |
Happy Wanderer | 26 Jun 2012 3:42 p.m. PST |
@Colin – I have thought of a blog
.I'm hopeless at updating those things though
.still pondering that one. @battle master – I must say I was surprised they came up that quickly as well! I'm certainly going to base them and will be planning on trying out the Bloody Barons Sumerian wars conversion in Slingshot. If the author of that article is able to make that available to a wider public then that would be a really good idea, though I disagree with his final summation of War Carts
.I think they had a combat role, he does not. The chaps name was Mike Titensor. These should be nice armies to build. Cheers HappyW |

HW- all you have to do set up blog and post photos as you do them. No need for for lots of script etc. Your work too good not to share and this period of gaming needs promoted. I agree some simple rules for city state wars would be good and being city staes small armies would good to entice new gamers to period. Hail Ceaser battles etc. can come later. |

As Colin and Pete say HW, your Sumerians are superb and deserve promoting. Starting a blog with blogger is easy and free. I'm doing two early Sumerian armies for the cities of Ur and Lagash. |

Thanks for the encouragement lads. I need to organise and order more troops first :-)
.still at that stage. By the way, the red colors used are combination of the Foundry paint triads of Madder Red, washed in Army Painter mid tone
.be careful to not let it puddle! Cyrus5, can you upload a few pics of your troops in this thread? Cheers HappyW |

Hey Cyrus, That's a damn fine blog you have there. You pretty much have used and incorporated all the available 28mm figure lines out there. That's particularly useful. In your opinion, do the Eureka minis have the same fine proportions to your eye on-table as the Cutting Edge figures. I was thinking of mixing a few figures in with the Cutting Edge stuff. They look different as advertised but the might mix if they are no fo the ‘heroic' 28mm proportions. How about Castaway
are they the ‘slight' proportional figures that Cutting edge are? Thanks for the links
excellent stuff. Cheers Happy

Thanks Happy, I like a mix of figures in my units. The Eureka figures are larger and chunkier. Cutting Edge mix better with Foundry but I still mix them with Eureka as well. I'll take some comparison shots and post them on this thread. |
