A few weeks ago I commemorated the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Fair Oaks by refighting the Fair Oaks Station part of the battle. To date this is the largest battle that I have run in terms of table size and the amount of figures used. It took me a few weeks to put the battle report together, but final here it is. Looking forward, my next large battle will probably be the Cornfield at Antietam. In the mean time, I also hope to do some smaller 1862 battles. So be on the lookout for these starting in July.

Nice.

Where did you get the roads and trees? They look great.

As always, fun to look at your wonderful presentations. Very well done in all ways. I did not read the battle report, but I was wondering what the explosion markers are used for in the rules? I have seen these litgo markers before and thought they were kind of cheesy, but I have to admit that they look kind of good from a distance. I think they would look better with a little smoke attached to them, but they still look fine!

Fantastic photos, a great feel of the battle. I like the way you took them low to the ground. Also like the small touches like the fences falling over.

Fields are good too. I recognize the green faux fur, but what are the light green shorter mats?

Really looking forward to you next ones

Cheers

Another excellent AAR. Very attractive, yet utilitarian layout. Perfect!

The trees are from Woodland Scenics. I spent a lot of time reinforcing them with glue and hair spray so they wouldn't fall apart. The roads are from Monday Knight Productions. I did a post about the roads a few months back. If you're interested here's the link: link

For ACW games I use the explosion markers to show what the Artillery is firing at. I think they look ok. Most times I forget to use them. Maybe at some point I will try improve them a little. Thanks for the suggestion.

I don't know if this was asked, but where are the figures from? They look like they might be Pendraken.

the felt fields are from Hotz Mats link

Bob, you are correct. 99% of the figures used for this battle are from Pendraken.

Outstanding AAR Bryan, and what a complete set up. Thanks for taking the time putting this all togther. I bet it took longer to do the AAR then the game itself.

Now how far is New York from Kansas City? hum . . .

Looks great as usual. :)

Stunning looking set-up. It makes me want to do 10mm ACW, and yet at the same time makes me not want to because I don't think I could ever reach such a high standard!

GoGators25 Jun 2012 11:36 a.m. PST

Very nicely done. Something for the rest of us to aspire to!!!

GROSSMAN25 Jun 2012 4:56 p.m. PST

Nice clean looking table-10mm is the best scale for ACW I think. I have painted 1500 of these little guys over the past few years-sold them, sorry I did.

Nice work.

Excellent figures and basing, and the artillery hits are awesome. SMOKE. Casualties ? Maybe one casualty fig per base ? :)

Your terrain is near impeccable. I like the way you keep the trees in the woods.

In sum, a fantastic layout.
