We're packing Bugs for the big release this week and at the same time starting the mold tooling of the Germans.

Our Marines came with hard plastic 25mm round bases. Our Bugs are coming with textured hard plastic 30mm bases (texture can be seen at link). We want to know how you are going to want your 25mm bases for the Germans. Let us know here:

Thanks!

I like the textured ones. A customer can always just rebase over the textured base anyway.

I'm going to go with textured bases too. That is pretty sweet.

I like the textured bases. However, they should either be very generic, like a grid, deck plate, or diamond plate pattern.

Although the pictured corpse bases look cool, they can be a bit monotonous in a large army and thus would require a lot of variants.

A common, but simple pattern will look better with a large army. Even better if you throw in a few optional bits that can be glued on like severed body parts, pipes, loose weapons, techie bitz etc. These can be glued on afterwards and vary the base design even more.

Hi CmdrKiley – there's a bit more explanation when you follow the link. The textured bases for the Bugs are just a cracked earth – the 30 you get in the box. The extremely textured ones with body parts, etc. on them are Bug Hive floor bases that are a special giveaway for everyone who orders Bugs – i.e. you get a set of 12 if you pre-order (releasing this week)

So yes definitely – if all figures in a box set have a textured base it would be on the generic side and not littered with too much extra "stuff"

Thanks,
Tony

That's great to hear!!!!

I'd love to see the Germans come with some deckplate style textured bases, with some occasional special ones (maybe 1 per sprue). Some loose bitz like pipes, hatches, and other techie bitz would be cool to come along with them.

Hell, I'd buy even more of the bases like this just to mount my other figures (including the non-Defiance ones). I already bought extra bases from my first order simply because they were great for mounting my other figures that I didn't want to dress up the base to hide the slots or mount on some expensive (and often over dressed) resin bases. Your bases are pretty economical, and I'll probably be looking at ordering some more. Also consider making some optional 30mm lipped versions of the same base.

Speaking of which, any word on Gunny? I'm still eagerly awaiting mine.

I'm glad to hear that the bugs are shipping this week. I looke forward to getting some from my FLGS.

I PRE-ORDERED!!!!!!

So I get 30 of the 'regular' bases plus the 'bonus?'

Should all the 'pre-orders' be out by Friday???

textured is a fantastic thing. If I want flat ones I can buy them elsewhere. Textures is a splendid idea

Textured. It definitely reduces the amount of elbow grease required. Also second the call for deckplates.
