The futuristic 15mm wargaming setting I'm working on is Stalingrad AKA Volgograd AKA Stalingrad again in 2072, 35 years after a major nuclear war and in the midst of a severe nuclear winter. The Red Army of the Stalingrad Commune, emerging from the Volgograd University's cellars, fights the invading White Legion (from another bunker in the outskirts of Volgograd (near the international airport)) over the access to the Volga and to the nearby Baku's oil reserves. In order to bolster the defences against the fascist White Legion, the Commune organizes various surviving groups outside of its main territory into Partisan detachments to harass the fascists' rear. The main ruleset I'll use is USE ME Post-Apocalyptic, but I'll probably try FAD5 and GRUNTZ 1.1 as well with these forces. I've thought a little bit more about the Reds and I'm considering making them into a more rag-tag force ALA most forces in Metro 2033. Their main infantry weapon would be an improvised SMG (similar to the WWII-era PPS-43 or to the Bastard from Metro 2033); their "powered armour" would be clunky modified industrial lifter exoskeletons (represented by Kremlin Miniatures Rising Sun MANITOUs); and I'm even considering either giving them armoured cars (15mm.co.uk HOF Light Tanks) or Tachankas (i.e. technicals – using the Khurasan Rockjumper pickup) instead of usual tanks. The fascists, on the other hand, would be like the Reich from Metro 2033 or the Enclave from Fallout 2 and 3 – using remnant military gear stolen from various bunkers around the city. Currently I have 30 Red soldiers (AKA PA Survivors) en route from 15mm.co.uk – enough for 5 squads – opposed by 18 already-painted Fascists (AKA Eureka Miniatures Sci-Fi Germans) – which are 2 squads with an attachment each (one flamethrower and one machinegun), a rocket team, an observer and a commander. Oh, and I also have a Commander and a Commissar for the Reds en route from Kremlin Miniatures. So, in terms of infantry, the Reds outnumber the Fascists almost 2-to-1, but will have simpler gear and light armour (and thus lower ELAN and Standard Rifles vs. the Fascists' Superior Rifles). Regarding the walkers, I've already ordered 12 Rising Sun MANITOUs from Kremlin Miniatures so I'll use them for my Reds; they're clunky enough as they are. I also have four primed armoured cars from 15mm.co.uk. Fascist Infantry:

By the way, I have two big tanks en route from Old Crow Miniatures for the Fascists, and three smaller tanks en route from Combat Wombat for the Red Army. |

Sounds like a big project planned. Good stuff. |

Old Raven? For a second I thought there was another major 15mm sci-fi peddler I knew nothing about. |

Many thanks! "Old Raven" was a typo. It should read "Old Crow". |

I like your Fascist armored car, this is mine

Looks like a fun project. I look forward to reports from the front. :D |

Once I'll get the minis and terrain painted, I'll start fighting and posting AARs

Pretty cool, what figs are you using for the Soviets? to small in the pics to tell. |

The Red soldiers are Post-Apoc Survivors by 15mm.co.uk; the Commissar and Commander are from Kremlin Miniatures; the walkers are also from Kremlin Miniatures. And here are a few higher-res pictures of the Reds:

Here is the Red Cavalry Walkers WIP. They still need basing and decals applied to them, then matte sealer.

They really have the soviet look those walkers. I'm annoyed though as I had a similar idea in design! Back to the drawing board :) |

If you want to add variety, the Khurasan Dimog Armorsuit certainly has a good industrial/Soviet look to it (and, of course, one can't go without mentioning the PA-3!).

@ArmiesArmy – Do go ahead and but these figures from Kremlin Miniatures (ironically, their Neo-Japanese walkers shown above look more "Soviet" than their Neo-Soviet ones). Their figures and walkers are GREAT and their service is SPOTLESS. Also took them less than a fortnight to get the package to Israel (which is FAST shipping). But you know what I want to see from ArmiesArmy? A sci-fi T-34. I'll buy several! @Richard Gaulding – I'll definitely take a look at the DIMOG later on, though right now I already ahev a big army for them. |

"A sci-fi T-34. I'll buy several!" Not to spoil your expectations, but there are already so many cheap versions of the T-34 in 1/100, 1/87 and 1/76 and 1/72 scale (Zvezda, Armourfast, Matchbox, Roco, Hasegawa, Fujimi
) that you'd be served best by buying some and kitbashing your own SF versions.

If you can get hold of them for a reasonable price, the Red Blok Kolossus models from the AT-43 line work pretty well in 15mm. |
Armiesarmy | 04 Jul 2012 5:27 a.m. PST |
Nice idea, however as moqawama suggests kit bashing T-34's is probably the best solution. I am working on something myself, been working with sketchup and shapeways. When its ready, I may post it up and let people think if its workable for resin copies thanks AA |

The Kolossus is a walker, not a tank. It's a one-man bulky power armor suit in 28mm and works fairly well at the 15mm scale too. I suppose it could be a walking tank, the size is right. Bigger than a one man suit in 15mm, smaller than a mecha. |

Here is a comparison of my Red "Cavalry" walker with an unpainted Red Warrior for Novi Stalingrad 2072. Do you think that the walker is big enough to be classified as an (unarmoured) Light Vehicle under the USE ME rules, or would it simply be Armoured Infantry with high ELAN and a Heavy Weapon? By the way, what do you think of the walker's basing? It is supposed to be snow on mud/rubble. |

Nice Why not try a little metal paint on the black damage areas. Even a 2b pencil. It adds that little bit extra for little effort. AA |

I will try a pencil, then :) |

Here is what I'm hard at work on right now: armoured cars for the White Legion (AKA fascists). So far I've assembled and primed them; there is still a lot of work left to do shading and detailing them. The vehicles are 15mm.co.uk Light Tanks.

I've got three snap-together plastic Zvezda 1:100 T-34's from eBay. I intend to spice them up to futuristic specs with some bits from GZG and 15mm.co.uk as well as some plasticard to serve as Red light tanks in my Novi Stalingrad 2072 wargaming setting. So here they are being unboxed:
