nice, how do u rate the figures and putting them together?

jay13817 Jun 2012 3:30 p.m. PST

Outstanding and fast, looks like the wait will be worth it.

I really like them!
Assembly is not different from other plastics and therefore not too much
of a challenge if you've done it before.
Only point of critique is the amount of heads.
A few more for the sake of even more variety would have been great.
But with 48 figures in a box I'm not complaining ;-)

Bring on the Spartans!

Excellent! What type of paint for the metallics?

Appearance resembles an artists' medium we struggled with many, many, moons ago. It worked but required much practice.

Your results are very effective…

Impressive!

Very nice indeed – Are the shields hand painted? I noticed how you used the brown wash (unsure as to what was used) to provide a subtle hue to the metal. I've tried this and I find it helps reduce the "glare" of metal on figures. Beautiful figures – can't wait to see the other 46!

Thank you for your comments so far gentlemen,
for the shield and armour I used Vallejo Old Gold, washed with Citadel's Devlan Mud and a little Vallejo Umber wash which has an extremely matt finish.
The shield designs are some old transfers 'enhanced' with a little bit of shading and highlighting.

SP- these look great- impressive speed of painting.

Re lack of variety / number of heads- how compatible would these be with IM/WG Hoplite Box Sets?

Immortal/ Warlord is considerably smaller than Victrix.
No match in size I'm afraid.
However, I might use some of the helmet crests for my Victrix Athenians.

would you say these fitted in well with the Aventine/Foundry size wise?

Suetonius Paullinus18 Jun 2012 4:13 p.m. PST

Yep, fit okay.

Looking forward to these guys in the flesh – have to say your paint scheme looks more like the 'real thing' than more glossy numbers seen recently.

Hopefully you will paint up a few more!
