Looking for an illustration of the U.S. Marine uniform during the early to mid 1830s. Did they, by perchance, wear the "pig sticker" leather shako that the army wore? (see picture) What were the uniform details and colors? Ran across one reference that mentioned the uniform was green.

hi , don troiani has a picture of a marine of this period in his soldiers in america book , i was looking at it the other day at my bros, and im sure green is the main colour of uniform ,there might be a pic on line |

Yes, for full dress they wore a green coatee with buff facinigs, light grey trousers and a bell top shako with buff plume. |

Sounds like a rather ugly uniform; I was hoping for something a bit more on the spiffy side! Oh well, might just stick with the QRF Models Seminole War figs
light blue uniform and that pig sticker shako are kinda cool looking! Thanks for the replies! |
