I am working on some Solo or Cooperative Sci-Fi dungeoncrawl rules (Tentatively titled Derelict). I could use a few testers, I'd prefer a couple folks that have at least one other person, but since they should work Solo as well, this is not entirely needed. To play you'll need a handful of supplies, most of which are I expect we'll all have. Figures (15mm is what I'll be recommending, but far from required) to represent the Xeno's and Marines. A play area which can be pretty much any Sci-Fi tile setup, I am using Star Station Zero personally, so all my example layouts will be done with this, sub as best you can. And a handful of d6, it uses a mild buckets system, but 6 or so should work fine. You'll also need some various tokens, something that will work for Blips and a small amount of status effects, like Corridor Damage, Fire, etc. I should note these are a first draft so things are gonna be mighty rough for a bit while I work through all the kinks. Once I have enough testers I'll give you links, everything is currently on Google Docs, so you'll get access to the needed folders. Shoot me an email at "the faceless king at gmail" dump the spaces and fix the rest, you know how ;) CC, I expect to see your name in my email :D |

Although I don't have the time to help play test I'll be curious to hear about what you're doing in the future. :) |

I'll be keeping everyone posted. I may even run a quick batrep tonight on a solo play through. |

So in thanks for the mad awesome response, here is a walk through of one of the games with a few of the basic mechanics tossed in. I don't normally do these so you'll have to forgive if my layout or descriptions are kinda rough. Mission: Eliminate the Alien Queen Sub-Mission: Retrieve the Resources from the Storage Rooms. The squad that entered had three members, Jackson (Red Marking), Connors (Blue), and Monroe (Green)
Turn 1, Connors entered the first chamber and found himself an Assault Xeno, a lucky shot wiped him out in one hit, the acid that it leached out damaged the floor making it precarious to move over the hole [Acid Markers take an additional movement to get past, I felt the acid mostly fell through the floor just leaving the damaged tile there] Monroe then opened the 2nd door where 2 Hammerhead Xeno's were waiting, they sprayed acid towards the marines but both missed [when Blip tokens are in LOS during a Marines turn, they reveal immediately, there is a chart which dictates what they are, when revealed they get to make an immediate turn, disrupting the Marines], he managed to miss with his attack. Jackson then moved in and killed one of the Hammerheads with a lot of spraying. The remaining Hammerhead Xeno again attacked and once again missed.
2nd Turn, Monroe wiped the floor with the last Hammerhead and ran up towards the storage bay doors, securing the way for his team mates. Connors spotted more Xenos down a Maintenance Shaft, too bad they found him as well. An Assault Xeno quickly moves up to him and attacks dealing 1 damage [Damage resolution is pretty straight forward. An Assault Warrior has a Melee of 3(4), therefore it rolls 3 dice, and each on over 4 counts as a single hit, the Xeno rolled a 2, 4, and 5. The Marine has an armor value of 4, he would then gather up 2 hits and roll them again trying to get a 4 or more to block the hit. He rolled a 2 and 5. One block, but one wound] The Hammerhead sprays but misses. Connors still has some actions left, so shoots the Assault Xeno and kills it, but misses the Hammerhead [I forgot that he was in melee, he should not have been able to shoot the Assault Xeno without moving away, which would have caused him one damage] Jackson then moves to fire upon the Hammerhead Xeno, managing to deal only one hit with both his remaining attacks [Heroes have 3 actions, enemies have only 2] The Hammerhead Xeno attacks and Misses again.
Wow, I really hate writing batreps, the next few are quick summaries as I have had enough writing . . 3rd Turn, Jackson rushes forward to get to the door release in the maintenance Shaft, finds it with a pair of Assault warriors, they only manage one solid hit though. "Game over man, game over!"
Monroe and Connors run up, pop open the first door of the Storage and quickly eliminate the Hammerhead lying in wait.
4th, Jackson manages to kill the assault warriors and moves into position awaiting orders from his teammates to release the hatch. Monroe and Connors grab the first bit of cargo and move through a Maintenance shaft to the next room. 2 Infiltrators are hiding about, on manages to land a blow on Connors before Monroe decimates them.
5th-7th turn, Monroe and Connors move through the Derelict to grab the last of the cargo and move into position to eliminate the nest.
8th-9th Turn, Jackson pops the bay doors and the Queen rushes out [Sorry she is unpainted, been slacking] a solid swipe manages to kill Connors [who had been getting hit all game, poor guy] Monroe backs off taking a single breakaway damage and fires a barrage right at her dealing an impressive 5 damage. he Queen then moves up and attacks dealing 2 damage. Jackson finally catches up and fires dealing 2 more damage, and Monroe manages to squeeze of the killing blow.

Nice! Good to see the space demons being used in active play. |

When these are ready for release, do you mind if I use photos of your figures in the rules? I was intending to ask anyways, but since you already popped in :D |

Send 'em. The more input the better the game. |
Glenn M | 15 Jun 2012 4:34 p.m. PST |
Well presume they are ready to be seen and off my notepad and into my computer (that's actually the more challenging part) |

I've had a productive night, invites were sent to be able to view the files on Google as well as a quick forum to be able to post feedback. |

Hey guys, double checking, did everyone get contacted? |

Uh oh--I'm sure that before long you're going to get a nasty "cease and desist" letter from GW, claiming that they have copyrights on anything and everything having to do with "Space", "Table", "Game","Tiles", "Dice", "Corridor", "Assault", and "Rules". Just thought I'd give you a headsup. |
