Flagship games made the sinking ship, or more to the point,I sculpted it! Never dreamed it would get eaten by such a spectacular monster! Thanks for sharing! Very inspiring! Cheers |

simple, effective, affordable, and excellent execution (figuratively and literally) but I'm still peeved you went for that bastard scale instead of your proper scale! : ) (i'll get over it – someday) |

Thanks for all the positive comments. Really glad you enjoyed it. For the last 30 years my focus has been on 15s, but in October I began painting my collection of 25mm/28mm pirates. It's been great fun and an interesting break from the 15s. I should have the pirate gallery ready for posting by the end of June/this month. This gallery will be phase one of my pirates and will be a pirate raid on my fictional Caribbean town of San Cristobal (once Spanish; now British). Like everyone who does pirate things, I have been greatly inspired by Wingnut who collection and humor bring great joy! Early Morning, if Blue Moon had come out with their pirates a couple years earlier, I might not have dipped my brush in world of 25s/28s, and like you would have done my pirates in 15s; though probably not a grand as what you have done. I hope you will not write me off. The 15s are still my first love, and once my pirate gallery is complete, I will begin the prep work on my next gallery (figures and most building complete) which will be my 15mm Aztecs and Conquistadors. I plan to have that posted in late September or early Octorber (about 2,000 figures). Once again thanks to all for writing. Very pleased that you enjoyed my dino tails become sea monster. I had a great time doing it and on top of everything else, it was cheap to make. Richard |

Fantastic! I love the swimming pirates. Custom job? Also, is that a Flagship Game's Cog going down?

Great model! I had the same idea when I saw pics of that moster here on TMP. I have all the beast but have not evolved them yet. Now I see it can be done! sky |

I always appreciate it when you take the time to write, and I'm very happy that you enjoyed the monster. richarDISNEY, the swimming pirates are Old Glory 25 pirates that I had in my extras box. They both had shapes that made it possible to cut them up and stick them in Milliput to look like they were swimming. The sinking ship is the Flagship Game's Cog. I got lucky there too. She had been sitting for years (unappreciated) on the shelf of one of my local hobby shops, so the owner gave me a good price, and I took her in hopes that I would come up with an idea for using her. I think she painted up well and makes a great victim for my sea monster. |

JJ, I agree about the head. I'll keep my eyes open for a second one or who knows, I may get the courage to take this one apart. Frankly, I think I was just lazy. The tilting of the head you rightly suggest required a cut that separated the jaw from the rest of the head and at the time I was a bit worried that I wouldn't get a good clean cut and reassembly if that was done. For the dollar it cost me, I should have taken the chance. Basing some floating wreckage is a great idea. Glad you like the tentacles well enough to take the idea and use it. I'm afraid that the de-tailed dinos went the way of all dinos -- gone but not forgotten. Richard |

Given all the recent Kraken polls I was expecting to see some "minor" celebrities but that would have probably tainted what is otherwise an excellent display. Thanks for posting |

War in 15's (and all interested) Where are you located? (region) It would be nice to do a large collaborative game here in the States like the World famous French game held in Bordeaux. There are several fantastic pirate games around the country currently, together they would be colossal. I'm pretty sure we could get one of the large central cons like Origins or Gen-Con on board. I'm in California; just south of LA, but Wingnut, I'm afraid on this issue I'm a big disappointment. I've never played a game in my life. For more than 30 years I been painting figures; until just recently 15 mm military. The pirates are my first try at 25mm/28mm and I've put together a large collection (much smaller than yours but large nonetheless) and like all my stuff, I'll be posting the results in diorama form on my website. I plan on having it posted in late June or early July. My sense it that you're a mid-west guy but if you ever hold a game at a con in the LA/Organge County area, I would come just to meet you and see your stuff in person. I'll be attending my first ever con this summer back in Virginia/Historicon. I love, the figures, the collecting and the painting, but I've just never found the group that drew me to gaming. Sorry. Richard Oh, if you'd like to see my 15s, you can check them out at warin15mm.com |

War in 15's, South-central (Arkansas) but close enough. Collecting figures is just as much of a hobby as gaming. I think most gamers forget that and building diorama is no small task. I have tried my best to incorporate techniques modelers use to bridge the two sides of the hobby. it allows the gamer to escape two dimensional flat boards to immerse themselves in the scene. Even if you never tossed dice at a game just getting a larger event together where a giant diorama was present would be spectacular. Besides we're more of an event than a game. We had people show up in costume that never moved a ship. If the last two games had been anywhere other than a High School there would have been drinks all around and a rum ration. There is an amazing amount of talent here in the States, if we could get together the even would be colossal. Wingnut |

Wingnut and War in 15 MM – can't we bring my 15s to THE GREAT PIRATE EVENT and use them to provide "depth of scale"? wait a minute, have I had too much old rum?

Early morning, based on what I've seen of the collections of you (15s) and Wingnut (25mm/28mm), I'm not in the same class as either of you. The two of you have put together monster pirate games in your scales. I'm just trying to put together a gallery of a pirate raid on a fictional Caribbean town and maybe a sea monster or two on the side. The two of you have built the Caribbean. My tricorn is off to you both. |

15's and EMW, Height is not a disqualifying factor nor quantity. I had people show up with just a few pirates, some just a boat and no crew. One guy just showed up with a Hat, I made him a Governor. 15's it's not a matter of class or competition. It's making something bigger and more grand than we could individually. EMW I have no problem with you setting up a huge 15mm table beside mine. The objective is giant-pirate-gaming not who's scale is better. Besides I'm not pulling for anyone to commit to anything just seeing if anyone is interested in collaborating. Wingnut |
