That's right, probably the weirdest tank design *ever*. Found it when I was looking for a 1/144 scale Krupp K5.
Too bad it's in 1/144 scale, but it exists! hlj.com/product/MTUAFV-049 |

That model seems to be sitting a bit high

Hrm
It does, but that's something that's *really* easily fixable. Just don't have a heart attack when you look at the pricetag. Single model, 2,858 yen. |

That's pushing $37 USD!!! |

I have it and yes, it sits too high as cast. The hull shape seems to be slightly different and I cannot vouch for any topside details as I have never been able to discover any detail photographs taken from above. Still, it stands out in the vast field of Obiekt 279 kits available

Didnt it have variable height suspension or did the MBT70 only have that? |

That's pushing $37 USD USD!!! How much are the DP9 tanks for Heavy Gear again? :) |

For a tank of the same size? $43 USD for two. |

Silly me, I was thinking of the heavies, which are $43 USD for one. Makes $21.50 USD apiece seem like a bargain. |

Even there, you get all the extra parts to make all the variants. |

The sad part is this thing will be avaliable in 15mm from Battlefront before the M26 Pershing. |

Yeah, the MBT 70 had the suspension that raised and lowered based on something the Germans were working at war's end. This 279 model has a real Sci-fi look regardless
The hull and "bottle cap" turret have some very good ballistic qualities

Whoever thought the FOUR sets of tracks was a good idea never actual served in tanks. That is the WORSE design I've ever seen

Oh come on coastal, you dont think changing a road wheel on one of the middle sets would be hard do you? I crwinge every time I think about changing a road wheel on one of those interleaven german things like a Panther. An inner one just had to suck. I wonder how they steered that big Ruski beast? Lock and drag on two tracks? Bet that didnt work so well. After every long move it was SOP to dismount and check the temp on the road wheel hubs. Bet that would be loads of fun on the inner ones. Perhaps that is what really killed that thing, a real tanker came and looked at it and fell over laughing. Owen |

Yeah after being a Mech Grunt with M113s, the 279 looks like a maintenance nightmare ! |
