The new transparency legislation has thrown up some interesting finds. GW will not let you access their website without accepting "innocent" cookies that are there to help you. Buried away in their list of cookies is this one: gws-feature This cookie will permit us to disable the homepage features settings on your browser. This cookie is not currently being used, although we may use it in the future. Yes you read it correctly. You have just given GW permission to disable your homepage settings whenever they feel like it. Google "Piriform CCS" if this upsets you enough to clean up your cache. |

Combined with no deep linking, that's a huge red flag. Even casual interest requires acceptance of GW as your new Internet Lord and Master. They've already shown they know how to invoke the DMCS. If they make the claim that those cookies are tools to prevent copyright violations, cleaning your own computer's cookies out just became illegal. |

I wonder how long it will take them to work out that this is not acceptable and that it will cost them sales! |

That's it! This is the last straw. I'm dumping all my GW and boycotting them for life! |

Thanks for the warning Mr. Kemp. Have downloaded CCS and cleaned my system, as well as put GW into the blocked sites list. |

Unbelievable. BTW, you will not see the cookie notice if you select a North American site when first loading the website. The cookie notice only came up when I selected "UK". w. |

So if you live elsewhere then ha ha you will never know kind of attitude?
That is poor form. |

They are effectively trying to circumvent the new laws – this will change. For our American cousins check your system – just because there is no warning page doesn't mean they have not put the cookie on your system. I disagree with cookies, although now a perceived "must have" tool for any business online, many organisations are abusing fundamental human rights to privacy (the law needs to play catch up quick)through the use of cookies. IMHO they very rarely produce positive results, they are now used to acquire, amass and collate information about you, personal information! Down with cookies, Long live Rich Tea

They can be a pain them cookies. When I was designing the solar panels for my sci-fi buildings I Googled solar panels a lot to see some pictures. I get about 5 spam e-mails per day now about solar panels from companies. There are different sorts of cookies though, 3rd party being the rubbish ones. |

Not all companies are so, shall we say, minimalist in their compliance with the law. GZG's site has the same warning whether you're in the UK or the US. |

I would think the homepage they are referring to is the homepage on their site. |

Noted, thanks. Thankfully there are many other miniatures companies that respect their customers. |

Will they start charging for people to read their website? I mean, you have to have some way of keeping those exec saleries up. |
