Russian Chevalier Guard and Horse Guards.
I was reading Burhard posting on his Cuirassier that were waiting completion for 2 years on his workbench, while I was working on the horses for these units .

I beat that by a few years as the troopers were painted 12 years ago as part of one of the few commissions that I've ever undertaken.

The whole story is a group of friends, wanted me to paint up a couple of units for another friend as a personal Wedding present. The person in question is a huge fan of the Russian Napoleonic Army in 15/18mm. So I went about painting theses units, only to find out that he's doing mostly Peninsula games and was working on a Spanish Army, so I shifted gears and painted up a unit of Spanish Heavy Cavalry instead, so these fine Russian Gentleman have been staring at me on my workbench, with unpainted horses for way to many years.

Ok, so what am I doing with them, you ask. Well besides my 1806 Prussians, I do have quite a few early Russians to paint (full Infantry Division), so I can do 1806 & 1807.

The Horse Guards will follow after I've painted their horses.

Well done indeed!

Gonsalvo28 May 2012 8:35 a.m. PST

Very handsome – I like the earlier uniforms with the round "sausage roll" crests, and the trumpeter, officer an NCO distinctions, which you've sop nicely painted!

@nsolomon99, thank you for your comments.

I will be working on the Horse Guards this week. Only problem is I need at least 30 figures for my units for GdB, so I'll have some more painting to do. As I painted these so long ago, it will be interesting to match there style as mine has changed somewhat over the years.

John

Also for those interested in seeing some of my 1806 Prussians, check out Paul's Blog, and while you're there also check out some of Paul's fine work.

very very impressive painting and superb looking army – a lot of outstanding figures, I particular like the red hussar officer.

VonBlucher29 May 2012 10:29 a.m. PST

von Winterfeldt,
Thanks and the red Hussar Officer is one of Paul's figures.
He'll be happy to hear that.

Hi John,
Been looking forward to seeing these and they are ace!!!

I love your white shading and the trumpeters lace is great too. Your hourses worked out very well.

Hi von Winterfeldt,
Gkad you liked the red hussar. He's a colour test for the Isum regiment. Get round to the red eventually!

VonBlucher30 May 2012 7:59 p.m. PST

Paul,
Thanks, and I'm unsure if I want to attempt another trumpeter like this again.:)

The horses came out nice, the nofrills and dark colors seems to draw your attention more to the riders and not the horse.

Hi,
A great, really great unit!
Trumpeter and officier are very "elegant", I love them!
Phil.

Fireymonkeyboy02 Jun 2012 4:39 a.m. PST

Hot damn. I think you may have just decided my Napoleonic question for me. Beautiful work!

VonBlucher02 Jun 2012 5:27 a.m. PST

Flat Beer and Cold Pizzia, I apologize as I missed thanking you earlier.

Phil the french, we can see how elegant they were in 1805, and the reluctance on the Russian's too commit the Pride of their army to combat and also thanks for your comments.

FMB, As having seen some of your work on your Blog, I think AB's are a better match to your painting skill level, and also thanks for your comments.
