Yes, this day is the 35th Anniversary of the release of episode IV. How did you first see it? 1. Saw it opening day
2. Saw it at some point during its first run
3. Didn't see it until a re-release to the big screen
4. Saw it first on VHS

6. Saw it first on TV
7. Saw it first somewhere other than those above
8. I prefer the Japanese version which came out back in 1958 (The Hidden Fortress) and no I don't believe Lucas when he says that this is not that movie.

Opening day? I work for a living. Back in 1977, that probably would have been a Wednesday or Thursday.
I probably waited for the first Saturday night I had off, which would have been Day 4 or 11. That would be a 2, I guess. (Han shot first…) |

Back in 1977, that probably would have been a Wednesday or Thursday. IIRC, it was a Wednesday. I remember because the theater I saw it in was normally only open on the weekend, but to get Star Wars opening week, they had to show it every day. |

Number 4 as I was only 3 years old when it was first released and my Mother wouldn't let us watch any of that "Sci-Fi crap" when it was on tv. I had to wait unit we got a VCR and I was in my teens when I could rent a copy of it. |

2. My aunt took several of my friends and me to see this "special" movie that had been written up in an issue of Time Magazine. She left us in the theater early on because she "didn't get it", and went to see The Deep starring Jacqueline Bisset instead. She never regretted doing that, supporting the notion that she really didn't get it. Funny how teenage boys and middle age women have different tastes, huh? |

1. I have seen every Star Wars movie on its opening day. I was fortunate to spend the summer of 1976 with my Grandmother in Smithville Texas, she took me to the local Five and Dime to buy comic books, where I found a title I had never seen before called Star Wars, I talked her into getting it for me because it was a number one issue. In the mid to late 90's Todd McFarlane came to Houston for a Comic Convention where I was lucky enough to get him to autograph my Star Wars #1 Comic Book. Coabeous |

I sacrificed my spot going with my sister for my then-future brother-in-law's cousin (who was, I believe, under 10 at that time; I was 12), so my now-sainted Mom and I went to a nearby drive-in theatre and saw 'Logan's Run', which turned out to be a very cool experience. I fell asleep not too long after the second feature began. |
