Me and my good friend Anders played a proper game of Dust Warfare this past Monday and had a lot of fun with it! I wrote a turn by turn after action report on my blog Fire Broadside: link I hope you enjoy it! :) |

Rhino lead his Hammers as they used their rocket packs to jump over the container (I think Anders had forgot they were there!) and straight on top of the apes! I decided to use Rhino's berserk ability here, allowing me to reroll misses, but still just ended up with four hits. Holy cats, you rolled 9 dice at a 2/3rds chance to hit, rerolled your misses at a 2/3rds chance again, and still only managed 4 hits? That's pretty awful, no doubt. |

Nice batrep. The unlucky die rolling just goes to show that anything can happen in the fog of war. |

To Dust then. Looks like the system is dynamic enough with those reactions as to escape the strict I go U go. Good report, thanks sir! |

Glad you guys like it! @Chief – The outcome would likely have been very different if we had remembered that the Rocket Punch actually reverse the dice (so you hit on 3+ instad of 5+). One of the flaws of the layout of the Dust Warfare book is that weapon special abilities are mentioned nowhere near the units that are carrying them so easy to miss/forget. @28mm – Indeed! We both enjoyed how the game swung back and forth! :) @clifblkskull – I only played Dust Tactics a couple of times and while it's not a bad game I found it a bit too simplistic for my tastes, which was a bummer since I love the models. Dust Warfare is very different while still retaining the same core. The order phase and reaction mechanic is really what makes it work for me. @Dogged – Indeed! I used to advocate alternate activation in the past, but after playing lots of Infinity, reading Tomorrow's War and now playing Dust Warfare I've come to the conclusion that reaction systems are superior. They allow both players to be involved at all times which is key for enjoying the game I think. |
