You need to work the terms "turnkey" and "environmentally responsible" in there somehow.

Love how you painted Rebel mini mech. It looks very good even without glass cockpit, like completely different model!

Eclipsing Binaries24 May 2012 2:18 a.m. PST

That mech doers look a lot better painted that way. They didn't appeal to me until I saw yours. The armoured canopy makes more sense than having that much glass at the front of an armoured vehicle.

Looks like the mech is an Aperture Science product…

Wow! I really like the HAMR painted like that. I may have to give that a try with some of mine. My only question would be about the guns on the bottoms of the wrists ratehr than the backs since it seems like it would be harder to hold something. Over all, outstanding painting!

Would the infantry happen to be GZG UNSC???

Chef Lackey Rich Fezian24 May 2012 6:42 a.m. PST

Yes, those are the UNSC light infantry from GZG. Unique paint scheme, though – very nice.

TeknoMerk24 May 2012 7:28 a.m. PST

Thanks, Chief! I want to get some UNSC forces, but wanted to see more painted figures to better see the details.

So how did you go about shading/painting the big guy? Looks cool.

monkeychild24 May 2012 9:01 a.m. PST

Thanks all, basically took the armoured cockpit route Because I was playing loads of mass effect and wanted one of those boss baddy type mechs to fight against.

I'm a bit so-so over the mechs gun placement too, might rejig it if I do another one.

Excellent paint jobs. Excellent presentation. And yes, the whole armored look is A LOT better than the 'big glass cockpit' look…

Sorry miniature review didn't see your comment, used a cheap pound shop primer then vallejo basalt grey coat all over, put a few little washes of badab black in the crevices, then a load of thin coats of off white, to skull white. Picked out bits that would get chipped with mithril silver and added dome 'techy' squiggles in orange. For the camera/porthole I gave it a black base, then progressively redder black/red mixes, If i remember correctly I cave the very center a little ball of fiery orange, then a coat of gloss varnish.
