link The Ork kit looks fantastic, and the Necron one is pretty cool as well. I still can't decide if the Space Marine vehicle is an ugly wreck or an awesome chibi-copter. |

To me, the proportions of the Space Marines one are off. A bit elongated towards the front with less pronounced assault cannons would go a long way towards making that look better. The Ork Bommer looks great, Necron one is OK, I'd personally rather see the pilot a bit more built in (more like a droid in an X Wing maybe) rather than sitting in a cockpit. Seems kind of pointless as is. |
| PygmaelionAgain | 23 May 2012 10:37 a.m. PST |
As much as the Space Marine craft looks "strange", I can believe it spends its time struggling to get off the ground instead of zooming over the table and off into the horizon. The other two look like they should be soaring over several 8x4 tables each turn. |

Man I want to like the SM flyer, but yea its hard. THe Ork and Necron flyers are nice. Find a way to ditch the pilot and the Necron flyer could work for 15mm as well I think. |
| richarDISNEY | 23 May 2012 11:21 a.m. PST |
I like the Necro one. Ork looks the same as the other ones and, as usual, the SM one looks like a brick with jets on it.
 |
| Samulus | 23 May 2012 12:04 p.m. PST |
The SM one is frankly terrible. It looks completely ridiculous. The Ravenstormeaglebirdofdoom or whatever they called the previous SM aircraft was pretty bad, this one just looks even more squashed. The ork one mind, now thats a nice kit. And I don't even like orks! |
| ordinarybass | 23 May 2012 12:11 p.m. PST |
I like them all. Less so the SM version, but I think it could be rectified by simply removing the underchin section, mounting much smaller assault cannons where the big silver rotating cuff is (instead of the big box) and moving the landing gear out a bit. The result would be a much more balanced machine. Any idea what these are going to cost? |
| wehrmacht | 23 May 2012 12:20 p.m. PST |
I have read $45.50 USD. Love the Ork stuff! w. |
| J Womack 94 | 23 May 2012 12:35 p.m. PST |
Tell me that Ork one does not have a flamethrower in the top turret. |
| HornetsNestMinis | 23 May 2012 12:38 p.m. PST |
Meh. Necrons looks alright. Ork jets fits the bill. Could they not find a spot to put yet another gun on the front of the SM one? I doubt I would pony up $50 USD bucks despite that I am always in need of good 28mm space ships for gaming. |
| nvdoyle | 23 May 2012 1:27 p.m. PST |
Pretty sure that's a Big Shoota, JWomack. Er, I mean, HMG. |
| wolfgangbrooks | 23 May 2012 3:25 p.m. PST |
I like the Space Marine flyer (well, take off a couple of guns) It looks like the Mechwarrior Hawkmoth which is one of my favorite flyers from the game. link However it doesn't look like something the Space Marines would use at all. |

I'm sure everyone is dieing to hear my opinion, so I'll wade in. Orks are cool, the Ork bomber is cool; 'nuff said. I agree the that the whole concept of robots piloting machines is silly and GW missed a chance to do some really neat things with the Necron vehicles by now having them appear automated or having hardwired pilots. So, the Necron flyer gets a solid "meh" from me. I actually kind of like the Space Marine one. Yeah, there is no way it could fly, and its very box-y. But it does look like the sort of gunship/insertion vehicle that the Space marines would use. 28mm flyers seem pretty out of scale for the sort of actions taking place under the 40K rules, but that doesn't stop the models from being cool. |

Agreed. The vehicles sure are cool, but apparently it wasn't enough to set two small companies of troops with vehicles to fight on two football pitches, now they've got to cram a few aircraft in there also. |

$45.50 USD is the price I saw TheWarStore advertise for pre-orders. The Ork flyer is gorgeous. The Necron Croissant of Death is not impressive. The SM flyer looks like they stole it from a mid-80's GI Joe vs. Cobra value pack. |
| Mithmee | 23 May 2012 5:50 p.m. PST |
So they are just doing this for the money? Of course they are, now the question is will they be legal in the future? That is not certain. Plus were are the Eldar Flyers? |
| byram1 | 23 May 2012 5:50 p.m. PST |
they look like those super deformed anime kits
|
| jpattern2 | 23 May 2012 7:20 p.m. PST |
Love the look of the dive brakes on the Ork bomber. They look like the Orks scavenged some cast-iron grates from a highway drainage system – and that's a good thing. |
| Scott Kursk | 23 May 2012 9:20 p.m. PST |
Mithmee, the new Eldar are coming "Any Day Now"tm. Right alongside the new Tau and Tyranids. |
| CorpCommander | 23 May 2012 9:53 p.m. PST |
Get them now. Vehicles will be nerfed in 6th Edition. And that's just rumor mongoring. I have no actual facts. |
| Dogged | 23 May 2012 10:38 p.m. PST |
The ork flyer is awesome. Made me rethink about selling off my orks. In fact, given the number of extra bits and parts that seem to be in the kit (looks like two different sets of wings at least, two different turrets, tails, bombs, guns, etc.), each kit could easily give away parts for a second flyer just building the main fuselage from scratch or other kits. Something like ork transports. It would be nice to have ork paras
On the other side, the SM one is in the general "impossible flying superheavy box" trend of SM flyers, which amazingly enough actually manage to look like they are less able to fly than ork contraptions. And ugly to boot. Made me not to rethink selling off my marines. The necron one is pretty; I guess they could not directly copy the new cylon flyers so no automated thing and you get a necron put on top of the machine
|
| Mithmee | 23 May 2012 11:29 p.m. PST |
""Any Day Now"tm. Right alongside the new Tau and Tyranids." Oh and the new price increases as well. I don't need any new Eldar I have quite a few of the old METAL Eldar. New Eldar will more than likely be Finecast Resin and I do not want any Finecrap Resin models. |
| Unrepentant Werewolf at work | 24 May 2012 7:41 a.m. PST |
The Marine flyer is bad, but I'll wait for either Forgeworld or Chapterhouse to create an upgrade kit to make it look reasonable. |

|
| Manflesh | 25 May 2012 5:42 a.m. PST |
Necron- pretty much what we saw in the artwork, so cool. It looks pretty flat too, so will fit in a case without as much fiddling as the others. Orks- outstripping expectations as ever with this range. I expect many parts will swap around with those of other kits too. Space Marines- Oh my
they aren't even bothering to try and make these models look nice any more. I'm guessing they took one look at the 10-minute design brief and said "oh well, who cares, the idiots will buy Space Marines whatever they look like". I'm happy with lack of realism in GW's stuff, but usually it results in a model that looks good, not butt-ugly. Leigh |

Is it me but have the Space Marines been shopping from the Fisher-Price section of the STD? |
| Insomniac | 28 May 2012 2:08 a.m. PST |
STC
but STD made me laugh :) (I know it's puerile but I just couldn't help it :) ). The Fisher Price statement holds true though. |

I know I went and looked it up after I posted. It amuses me as well. Maybe they are trying to lighten up the Space Marines? Or attract a younger fan base? |
| Poi000 | 28 May 2012 3:45 a.m. PST |
The ork one has me tempted back to the Waaaagh. Necron one is nice enough. Marine one is so fugly, I may just have to get one for my Raven Guard. |
