Just to make them more customizeable.
I say at least 8. However the pikemen and arquebusiers should be different sets, and set should have their own codpieces.

Ulric von Schraff in 1527 specified standardized and separate codpieces for pikemen, halberdiers and arquebussiers, but I think we could get away with mixing them. After all, who has read von Schraff in the original German? Besides, well, you know who, of course.

It's not the SIZE that matters…
It's how many bows and ribbons you can ut on it!

John the OFM22 May 2012 8:21 p.m. PST

Which brings up the question of whether they should be stackable…

Pictors Studio22 May 2012 8:30 p.m. PST

Males and females are stackable. The cod pieces do not have to be.

Well, don't spend too much time thinking about cod pieces: just fish or cut bait.

You know, COD pieces? Fish? Bait?

Oh wait. Are we talking about groin decoration again? Give me a few minutes.

Did codpieces differ according to rank?

Codpieces are an uncomfortable issue for the landsknechts, really. All that puff and slash, you know.

Five years and this comes up as a poll.

All I can say on it is:

What you have missed is that if the men are wearing the regulation Enormous Breeches the cod peices don't have to be modelled in detail.
