Zvezda have just provided pictures of their new 1/100 Matildas (I and II) on their Facebook page. Look good. link link |
Dave Jackson | 22 May 2012 5:05 p.m. PST |
Well, I appreciate the effort
..but
.why bother posting something to which I have to subscribe to see it. |
| 15mm and 28mm Fanatik | 22 May 2012 5:08 p.m. PST |
Thanks for the 411. Between Zvezda's and PSC's cheap releases, people would be crazier than the delusional Hitler himself to buy from Battlefront. Or who has too much $$$ to burn. Besides, when it comes to plastics BF is already 'too little too late.' Not to mention too expensive. |
Doms Decals | 22 May 2012 5:17 p.m. PST |
Lovely – I didn't even know they were doing the Matilda I
. :-) Hmm, if I ever find that elusive "free time" thing, I guess I ought to dust off the half-done BEF markings
. |
| George Krashos | 22 May 2012 5:30 p.m. PST |
Because other people might just be interested in the images. Apologies that the post didn't match up to your unique and particular social circumstances. Sheesh. |

very nice, makes me consider a few project that are becoming affordable. Where did you get by the way the "Devil's charge" picture that you posted for the rest of the world to drool on?

Here you go tech challenged dudes:
The price is certainly right and the look not so bad. Cheers, VB |

I got the pictures up on those links without any problems & I don't even have Facebook

too expensive
we really have to wait and see what BF price BF sets its fully plastic sets at when they come out to make that call. Give them a chance, they may suprise you. |

The Devil's Charge cover pic was on the UK Book Depository website. |

Is that a rudder on the Matilda I? |
| VonBurge | 22 May 2012 9:22 p.m. PST |
No rudder. The Zvezda WWII game has little flags on their units apperently. It's really more of a 3D board game deal. |

It's a real shame Zvezda took the board-game route with this – or we would have lots of cheap plastic WWII 15MM Infantry and Aircraft to add to our collections – but the infantry are 1/72 and the aircraft 1/Godonlyknows. The 15mm tanks I have are really really nice, and really really cheap. I will certainly buy the hell out of the above stuff. Pat |
Doms Decals | 23 May 2012 2:01 a.m. PST |
The aircraft (except the transports) are 1/144, just like Battlefront

| jameshammyhamilton | 23 May 2012 2:25 a.m. PST |
I knew about the Matilda I and was not that exited by it but the Matilda II is a really nice model and I may just have to add them to my stocks. Other new releases I am exited by are the BA-10 & SdKfz 222. As well as that IIRC there are StuG Ds, Pz III and T-26 flame tanks, SP AA on an Opel and on a Soviet half track truck and a Matador truck. |
| David Manley | 23 May 2012 4:57 a.m. PST |
Ideal for my 1930s imagi-nation project and my WW2 FAr East Aussies. Can't wait for the BA-10 and the others :) |

You are looking at resin kit with some plastic parts. That's not a fully plastic like the Zvezda items in this thread or PSC and others. Think we ought to wait and see what price range BF rolls out with for fully plastic kits before we try to condemn them already for not being able to what their competitors can do. Maybe BF will live up to your expectations with jacked up prices, maybe you will be surprised. |

i cant wait for the SdKfz 222 and BA-10s as well |

There is no indication that BF are going to go fully plastic. As a matter of fact it has been reported that JP has said that they will not be going to all plastic tanks. |
| VonBurge | 23 May 2012 7:15 p.m. PST |
Can't see how they can avoid it, but I've got no "inside" info to counter it. Can you share where this report came from. The passive voice just leaves one hanging. Cheers, VB |

Would not take for golden truth what the gentleman says. Things change and if they don't adapt, their bread and butter will stay with the competition. That's an interesting challenge for them to pick and fight for. Overall, -although there are arguments against- I believe the customers will benefit from it. |
| Lion in the Stars | 23 May 2012 11:00 p.m. PST |
I agree, I cannot see how BF will be able to avoid going to full-plastic vehicles. Not resin hulls with plastic details, but full-blown plastic models. Sure, some of the vehicles can probably stay mixed-media (the ones you only need 1-2 of), but most tanks and halftracks you need *many* of (US armored rifles need *how* many halftracks?). Metal infantry I think will stay around for a while, but not vehicles. Not at BF prices, anyway! |
| jdginaz | 24 May 2012 1:52 a.m. PST |
It was reported on the BF forum about them not going to all plastic. Not by JP but by someone who claimed to have ask him about the issue. |
| George Krashos | 29 May 2012 5:02 a.m. PST |
Zvezda have also put up a picture of their Matador truck model.

Hmm, not overly impressed by the Matador, but the 222 looks rather better than I'd expected – will probably go for a few of those. |

It was reported on the BF forum about them not going to all plastic. Not by JP but by someone who claimed to have ask him about the issue. Thanks for the follow up. I must have missed that on the BF forums
and I'm usually watching for items just like that. Guess that could have been JPs view on that given day. Wonder how long he'll try to hold on to it or if the winds have already shifted for him? Hmm, not overly impressed by the Matador Me either on that one
but I imagine all painted up with a few decals slapped on it and it would be serviceble enough. |
| helmet101 | 29 May 2012 6:14 a.m. PST |
Wow, the 222 looks super good. Thanks for sharing. As for what JP or whoever else decides at BF, I won't break my head too much. I know what I like and will go for it, the rest will be out of my reach. |

Probably right, but that'd mean I have to make some Matador decals

I know no-one has actually seen the models yet, but does anyone know if those flags are optional or are there silly slots on the back of the model for them to fit into and therefore will be a real pain in the ar** to file off? |
| Guthroth | 03 Jun 2012 10:47 a.m. PST |
On the models I have, the flags are on poles that you slot into the back or underside of the model. You just leave them off. It's a shame this is 1/72

Really think they missed the boat not scaling the infantr and guns to the tanks
but Hey!!! It's their game
so long as they like. |
| PilGrim | 15 Jun 2012 7:41 a.m. PST |
Hardly missed the boat to be fair, they must be selling scadloads to the 1:72 modellers. I dont think the 15mm wargames market is the same scale (no pun intended) |
