for 37mm Cannon, I can get them, they look nice but problem is it takes me a 2 hour drive(1 hour up 1 hour back) to go pick them up, and while they are not expensive ($7.99 per 37mm) they will ship, but I have to be there to pay beforehand(won't pay overphone) and ebay isn't an option either(no card).

for 75mm Cannon, easier to get, looks nice and same price, and only is 15 minutes away(that store can't order 37's, already asked.

so, which do you think looks better? I love the 37mm, but it's hard to get, I am willing to trade also, so if you want to trade like set up a post, we could discuss details there.

Are we talking for 40k?
If so, go with the 75mm… I suspect the 37mm will look way too small next to GW figs. Model on a magazine feed, similar to the one found on the old Catachan metal Heavy Bolter and I'd say you're in business :)

Sindri21 May 2012 5:01 p.m. PST

Yes I'm talking 40K, these are going to be mounted on a 60mm base.

guess I should have mentioned that, lol but oh well.

jpattern221 May 2012 6:14 p.m. PST

Definitely the 75mm. As Splod says, the 37mm will be way too petite.

Had to make a second post because I simply could not keep up with the "'s" stuff.

Anyway, an autocannon is supposed to be a relatively small caliber barrel that has a high sustained rate of fire. I would suggest that you group some of the combat wombat barrels around a round piece of stock (like a small dowel) you can get the look of a massive fire rate weapon.

Well, the IG autocannon is about the same barrel diameter as a 1/35 scale 5cm gun. (I've got a PaK40 somewhere, it's a lot bigger than the IG autocannon).

I'd honestly consider buying a 28mm scale Gatling gun (or bits-order a Privateer Press 'chain gun') instead.

no, that Grammer Pirate, GrammARGH, say it with me, GrammARGH

I spell things how they are pronounced and never once heard a GrammARGH Pirate.

Erasmus Philomel22 May 2012 8:54 a.m. PST

The 1/35th scale gun you are looking at will be about four inches long and about 1/4" near the breach, I don't know how much of the kit you are planning on using aside from the barrel.

Sindri22 May 2012 8:18 p.m. PST

the 7.5cm guns actually looks quite good(I think) now that I've seen it.

Lion in the Stars22 May 2012 11:49 p.m. PST

Oh, I agree that a Pak40 looks awesome for either an IG autocannon or 'lascannon'.

But!

It's about twice the size of the GW model.

(Pak40 barrels make great replacements for the autocannon in a Predator tank, by the way)

my autocannon team.

I am a grammar ninja. I see the flaw in your grammar. I wait. I do nothing. No one sees me. Then I steal the shogun's war plans and escape into the night.

PaintedMetal27 May 2012 11:22 a.m. PST

The " ' " wasn't a plural but an abreviation, much like won't or can't. It just replaced "mm".

Right, now I'm off to find a life.

Sindri27 May 2012 5:43 p.m. PST

@ PaintedMetal: lol, then "go find one" I ask for opinion and I get no lifer's haha, oh well, at least a couple people had a life(the ones who commented on the actual question) rather then derail it.

UnfortunateWound02 Jun 2012 8:31 a.m. PST

@ Sindri: I like your autocannon team. What models are they, and what faction/game is it for?

Lion in the Stars02 Jun 2012 10:09 a.m. PST

Well, the gun looks like a Dragon 1/35 PAK40, but with the barrel in the recoil position.

I'm not sure what the crew are, unless they're Warzone plastics… Bauhaus?

I'm guessing it's for an Imperial Guard army in Warhammer 40k because of the large round base.

Sindri02 Jun 2012 12:47 p.m. PST

they are Bauhaus Heavy Gunner troops(the one with minigun's) and they are for my new Imperial Guard Army "Abwehr Defender's" I even have their codex all written out.
