Does anyone know what the average rate of fire was for a WW1 battleship?

MajorB21 May 2012 4:45 a.m. PST

What size guns?

Cuchulainn21 May 2012 4:54 a.m. PST

I've decided to erase my previous response about gun size and answer it again.

Let's take the 13.5 inch gun of HMS Iron Duke and the 15 inch weapon on HMS Warspite as they would have been at Jutland.

Just a rough idea really, I want to see how their ROF compares to battleships of WW2.

Texas Jack21 May 2012 7:02 a.m. PST

The 15/42 MK I had a ROF of two rounds a minute.

The 13.5/45 MK V could manage from 1.5 to 2 rounds a minute.

This info is from this site:

A very nice source indeed.
