For me it was Voyager. Terrible show. |
Rudysnelson | 19 May 2012 4:49 p.m. PST |
I do not think it did. The shows ran their number of contract years. Some were not renewed as in the orginal series, though I think 3 years was the contract term in those days. Were all of the same quality

I would have said after TOS, but after just watching TOS over the last year or so, I would have to go with DesertScrb – Season 3 of TOS. While there are a few gems, they lost the plot. |
Dynaman8789 | 19 May 2012 5:27 p.m. PST |
Spock's Brain. First 2.5 seasons of TNG, first 3 seasons of DS9, ALL of Voyager, theme song for Enterprise. Star Trek V, shudder
. Other then that ST was great. |
jtkimmel | 19 May 2012 5:27 p.m. PST |
Didn't like Voyager, Enterprise was ok (everyone was too NICE though, and just could not get past Captain Quantum Leap), liked Next Gen, favorite was DS9. I say the shark would be Neelix on Voyager. |
Korvessa | 19 May 2012 5:36 p.m. PST |
Never cared for Voyager. TNG got strange after awhile. I think DS9 had the best character development. Particularly like the the Odo-Quark interaction and Garak. |
Mako11 | 19 May 2012 5:40 p.m. PST |
The New Gen. for me, with a counselor on the bridge to advise the captain, and a French Capt. who would actually listen to her. Plus, the insistent medical doctor, who tried to ride herd on the captain too. Kirk would never have put up with that. Most of the shows/variants after that were just plain silly, which is saying something, given TOS

Liked TOS and Angry Space 9, but Next Gen, Voyager and Retcon Enterprise didn't do anything for me. Al | Boldly Going There. Again. |
Volstagg Vanir | 19 May 2012 5:51 p.m. PST |
I'll go w/season 3 of TOS (with some notable exceptions); Basically once it lost the Cold War metaphors. I'll go farther and say that it reclaimed itself w/ later seasons of Next Gen (rules of thumb: Turn off any episode in which a) Riker is clean shaven b) Worf has no pony-tail c) Wesley is featured I'm led to believe that there exist similair rules-o-thumb for watching DS9 (regarding the Klingon War) but I have yet to discover them
Voyager and Enterprise I find just shy of unwatchable (I 've a strong stomach; I can watch anything, once. BUT! I bore easily: RepeatIed viewing must have redeeming features these sadly lack). |

The JJ Abrams movie. Although the two previous Next Gen movies were pretty bad, too. |
nvdoyle | 19 May 2012 6:17 p.m. PST |
Hm
Next Gen. DS9 did a lot to redeem it, Voyager squandered that. Enterprise was a fresh restart, and I loved it. Felt more like real people doing real things, than any of the other series. Also, loved the JJ Abrams reboot, can't wait for the next one! |

Space-time continuum. The moment that subject became the subject of a primary story arc, the series would fall to pieces. With Enterprise, it started in the pilot and never went away. |

|
Mako11 | 19 May 2012 10:21 p.m. PST |
A shame they didn't feature in more episodes. The one-on-one combat between Kirk and the Gorn commander was epic. Would have loved to see some good boarding actions, or space battles between them and the Fed. Heck, even some more border raids and skirmishing would have been fun, as well. TOS missed out on that, and then really lost an opportunity by making them allies of the Fed. so quickly. |

I can tell you exactly when Star Trek "jumped the shark" for me, TNG Season 1, episode 1, when we first met Wesley, from then on the series was pretty much straight downhill for me. The downward spiral kind of level out a bit, during the second part of the DS9 series, but crash and burned with the Voyager and Enterprise series. Lots of reason for the decline of the series, mostly too many preach / "holier than thou" story lines and characters. |

Space hippies. I liked the space hippies episode. It was a great story. The hippies were cool and groovy and everybody liked them and everybody wanted to be one. But no matter how much they talked about freedom and love, they felt they were completely above considering other people's opinions and were willing to destroy other people to get what they wanted. And that turned out to be fundamentally destructive. It was a great lesson about hippies.
Steppin' into Eden, indeed. |
Covert Walrus | 20 May 2012 4:22 a.m. PST |
Let us remember, the term "Jump the shark" is the moment that a series produces an awful episode and then *continues to be bad or even get worse*. While TOS had some poor episodes ( "Spock's Brain" for one) but it never went totally down hill; The same could well be said for practically all the later series – in fact, TNG actually got better as it went along IMO – though Voyager never got above a certain level, and Enterprise had a terrible second season after the promise of the first . . . and that ending? DS9 however, again IMO, best of the bunch after TNG as far as I am concerned. |

TNG's Q got better over time, Ferengi too. Was at a con featuring Marina Sirtis and she was talking up the Ferengi and the crowd was not liking them at all – if that appearence had been after Picard punched one in the nose it would have been different. The Grand Negus was one of my favorite scifi characters of all time, the modeling of the ears alone is worth an award
Q had one of my favorite two lines in all of Trek as well "Ah Worf, EAT any good books lately?" and "Is there a John Luck Pikerd Here?" |

I guess I'm the lone wolf here. With the exception of a few episodes, such as when Sisko believes he's a science fiction writer in the 50s, I never liked DS9. Tried to, but couldn't. For me,there was too much character development and if they pushed them in your face. I felt like I was watching a soap opera. Also, I wasn't too fond of idea of the space station is the place where EVERYTHING happens. |
GoGators | 20 May 2012 8:45 p.m. PST |
Time travel episodes (almost ALL of them, esp the TNG repeat wormhole one and Enterprise. I was able to continue watching all the series for one reason or another but not Enterprise. My wife loves Wesley. I think he can die in a fire. Sheldon (from Big Bang Theory) is right about him. |
