1) I use the same characters and model the scenario as closely as possible to what I have seen. 2) when it is a historical situation I merely use the show as inspiration and base it off of historical research. 3) I go full hollywood. 4) I change the period but keep the scenario in order to fool the players who may have seen the same show. 5) I play the show in the background while the battle rages to set the mood. 6) People really use a movie or television to game historical stuff? 7) Too much work I just show up to play. |

I only do historical wargames but some of the list apply (if the treatment is convincing it is a source of information and/or inspiration
and so, say, we have played Anglo Zulu War stuff with the unmistakable 'Zulu' soundtrack playing – and the Richard Burton narrative at the beginning of the game
)
So a credible 'stand alone' 8. might be 'play the sound track'. |

Yes. Just got done watching Red Cliff. I see a warring states army or two in my future already. Dang, and I still have all these other projects to finish, too. Oh well. |

2 and 5. Spartacus, among other movies had me going for Romans early on. Believe it or not, the old Asterix comics did as well. Nothing like playing Kingdom of Heaven while fielding Crusaders ;-) |

No. Usually we take our scenario from a written source and modify it to fit in a usable scale on our table. Generally on the 12 by 7 1/2 foot table we run about a battalion and a half total at 1 to 1 in terms of numbers of troops and vehicles. |

Longest Day always gets me in the mood for a Dday battle, A Bridge too far does the same for Market Garden and Gettysburg for, well, Gettysburg
