Ferb, The model is of a KV-1s. The KV-1e has extra armor plate bolted on, with noticeable rivets. Steve |

The box says 1940 on it and I thought the KV-1s didn't come out until 1942 so I guess it must be an ordinary KV-1. |

That is not a KV1-s. Type that into google images and see how the 's' has a very different turret for thing. (And lots of other minor differences). |

and the 'e' came both with and without the huge rivets. This is a 1940 variant so won't have the rivets. (I think!) |

From my understanding this kit represents neither the KV1S nor the KV1E. It isn't an A, B or a C either. It is, however, the very first production model of the KV1, circa 1939/40. The gun mantlet gives it away. It, like the first T34s, was armed with the 76.2mm L/11 gun, which had a shorter barrel than the later version. It was consequently a lower velocity gun, found to be unsatisfactory and replaced after the first year of production. So from 1940 on, all the subsequent models of the T34/76s and all subsequent models of the KV1 tanks, armed with a 76.2mm weapon, would be the later F32 gun. |

Yep, it's the KV-1 model 1939. |

Don't think the OP is too bothered which mark it is, says he's using them as the KV-85! |
