Hi Guys,

Wonder if you can help…

Thank Ye Kindley

Ral Partha Europe/Iron Wind Metals used to have a big bruiser in the Shadowrun line. They used to have a smaller one in the general fantasy line but that's been years ago, too.

I suspect most potential manufacturers think of them as either Meso-American Fantasy (which no one plays) or a now obscure D&D monster (and thus subject to copyright).

It's not so 'feathered' but there was a big couatl in the Crucible line.

Huh, I thought I'd seen all the Crucible figs but that's a new one on me.

Both Grenadier and Ral Partha did them for Shadowrun, both OOP now (or has Iron Wind Metals re-released the RP one?).

Grenadier:

The old Citadel/GW Runequest Winged Serpent is also on Ebay right now: auction

A cool kitbash of the Reaper Giant Snake and some Reaper wings ( link ).

In fact, Reaper sells sets of wings in several sizes, and Reaper, Games Workshop, and many other companies sell snakes in many sizes, from regular to extra-large. You could probably kitbash quite a variety with some minor cutting, pinning, and puttying.

I know that there are other, different Couatls and winged serpents that have been made in the past by Ral Partha, Citadel, and others. Search Ebay or Google images for Couatl, Feathered Serpent (or Snake), Winged Serpent (or Snake), and so on.

The SR Coatl I was thinking of was the Grenadier version.

The old Ral Partha "generic" Winged Serpent is not pictured above. The only image I'm finding is an eBay thumbnail.

The old Ral Partha "generic" Winged Serpent is not pictured above.
If you mean the little one that's looking to the side, with it's tiny claws off the ground, yeah, I couldn't find a decent photo online, either.

Farstar18 May 2012 3:19 p.m. PST

The one with claws was the older version, with small scales and a curved beak; basically a small snake-wyvern or large Cockatrice. He was cast "flat" but could be bent forward if you were patient.

The later version had large diamond-shaped scale/feathers, no legs, skin wings, and a draconic head. His wings were a separate piece, so he had no problem being three dimensional.

Both can probably be found in the catalogs of the day, but those are all either behind the Yahoo membership wall (at the Ral Partha Collectors group) or in a PDF of scans. Hmm. Doesn't Megaminis have some of those catalog PDFs?

jpattern218 May 2012 8:44 p.m. PST

Yes, Megaminis has a few of the older RP catalogs. I'm sure the early snake-wyvern is in one of them.

Garrison do a winged serpent in their sword and sorcery range.

Here is a picture from Lost Mini Wiki.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Looks like I'm gonna try my hand at some kit bashing, think it will be fun…

Citadel did another version which was modelled flying and came with a clear plastic stand. I'm still looking for a picture of it.

Here's a drawing of that one, Andoreth:

And here's another cool Reaper kitbash ( reapermini.com/Thecraft/10 ):

I know, the parts and where to make the cuts are in the provided link.
