Searching for good books to read about American &/or allied Prisoners of War during the Korean War (1950-'53). Interested in histories of the subject and also individual memoirs. Subject is far from my areas of expertise (I'm mostly a 19th Century Colonial & 14th-15th Century Medieval guy), so asking for recommendations. Thanks in advance for your time! |

Such Men As These has at least one story of a Naval Aviator who was taken prisoner. Excellent book on US Naval Aviators in general. |

Not on POWs, but the books by Donald Knox are really good. The Korean War:Pusan to Chosin: An Oral History The Korena War:Uncertain Victory: An Oral History Read those while I stationed there. Both books are mostly accounts by various soldiers that fought there. You can follow several of the soldiers as fought thru Korea. They start with Task Force Smith and go thru the final peace negotiations. I think there are also some accounts of additional incidents that occurred up into the '70's |

You are welcome Mad Guru. Dunno why the previous responses were posted twice. But here is another group of POW stories you might want to read, "POW Stories Histories by the POWs of their time during the war and as POWs will be posted here, as well as other writings by the POWs. All histories are copyright their author and cannot be used for reprint without prior permission. The histories will not be edited, these are the POWs own words." link |
