There are a lot of these models around not just Bin Laden Raid. We worked with the Rice Bowl model at Fort Bragg during training. I understand there is a Son Tay model in the SWC archives, and the Modelo Prison model is at Fort Bragg as well. I am surprised to see it on display so soon. The others were still classified as recently as 2002. VR James Mattes |

I saw it at NGA HQ and there was no glass box around it – that must have been added when it was moved to the Pentagon. Actually, judging from the size of it and the height of doors, etc., it looked almost exactly the right size for 25/28mm. 1/84 would be between 15mm and 20mm. |

That's an awesome model, but can you take the buildings apart to move minis around on the inside? |
| pigbear | 18 May 2012 12:28 p.m. PST |
The article says "one inch represents 7 feet", hence 1:84 scale. That's very close to HO scale (1:87). Is it possible that the scale used in the model is actually HO and the quote is just an approximation? |

So would you pay $35.00 USD for something you might use once? I don't see any other options there are for a specific kind of compound. If it were modular or expandable perhaps. Robert |

And since then the Osama bin Laden compound has been demolished in Pakistan. Which model more closely matched the real compound? Robert

You can bet the U.S. Military model is spot on. I have worked in Photogrammetry back in the day and these are always the best source next to actual overhead photographs and hand held drive bys. VR James Mattes |
Legion 4 | 21 May 2012 8:57 a.m. PST |
Glad to hear the compound was demolished
don't need it to become a "shrine" of some sort to UBL or his ilk
But I think the CIA should have some how sent out invitations to all the AQ, Taliban, Jihadist leadership, etc. and their staff to meet there for some sort of "party"
and "Drone" them all in one place !! LOL !!! "evil grin" |

Well the US Military one definitely looks better and accurate for sure. But they probably had more money . Robert |

Osama Bin Laden's Pakistani Compound Demolished By TREVOR J. LADD Feb. 27, 2012 Pakistani authorities have demolished the house in Abbottabad where al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed in May by Navy SEALs. Heavy construction vehicles moved in Saturday evening and began pulling down the three-story structure during the night, according to local residents. By Monday, only portions of the outer walls remained. Police and military security accompanied the construction vehicles and cordoned off the surrounding neighborhood, preventing onlookers and journalists from approaching the site. " link |
