If confirmed this will be the first major international sale of the Guarani, which is yet to enter full scale production. link |

Do they have enough hard currency to pay in cash, up front? It's the only form of payment corporations are accepting from Argentina at the moment. |

It's the only form of payment corporations are accepting from Argentina at the moment. If true, not surprising – but is it true? I had not heard it – though we do no business with the Argentine Government at the moment. Pat |

It wouldn't surprise me at all; the markets haven't exactly forgotten their government bond default, and their budget doesn't stack up these days, a major spur behind the trend towards nationalising things of late – unless their government has a sudden and unexpected attack of realism, the sums are going to come back to haunt someone in the next couple of years

Yep, foreign direct investment is looking like drying up rapidly, and a few European firms with Argentine investments are looking for the exit. The price of populism

In the past few weeks, several oil & gas companies are only sending tankers to Argentina after receipt of hard currency. |

Guarani,,, sounds nasty. Would antibiotics help clear it up? |

If they buy it they'll get a deal. They're a Mercosul partner and sales to Argentina will promote further sales to the region and beyond. There will probably be some local production offsets sought and received, just as there has been with earlier acquisitions. IIRC Iveco has a branch in Argentina. The oil and hard currency thing has more to do with the nationalisation of YPF. Inflation is definitely on the rise though, much more than the official figures. |

Actually, they might be paying for it in wine. You can pick up a very tasty bottle of malbec for under R$40,00 in most supermarkets. |

Malbec is good, for US $20 USD in Houston. Argentina also wanted hard cash from companies working there, no credit. |
