Hi…. A mate of mine and I are really getting into the photography side of the hobby and we would like to know if there are any websites or indeed photographers among the posters here that can help with some fairly technical advice on the subject
Hope someone can help Thanks
Barry

Maybe try aquarium backdrops from pet shops?

I've dabbled a bit in the photography side. especially when the Black powder guys asked for some photos of some pics of FIW and my Turks for the Last Argument of Kings supplement. I did it myself for pictures for TooFatLardies' FIW supplement in last summers special.

the easiest way to do it is to photograph your miniatures and terrain against a white background, and then use Photoshop to remove the white background with whatever backdrop you want in a layer underneath. the result is pretty cool. it also saves on buying a backdrop as you can just Google something(you need something fairly high resolution though)

3rd picture in that post with the orchard is done that way. you do want to make sure you have something covering the transition between your terrain board/mat and the backdrop. ground cover, rock outcroppings, trees, etc work well.

another thing that can be done is take a pic of your miniatures on the terrain, and then keep your camera positioned exactly the same, but remove the figures. then you can use the eraser-paintbrush to erase your bases and make it look like the figures are standing right on the ground.

Both of these are time consuming but look pretty awesome when done. I've not done the elimination of bases but i understand the concepts from classes i have taken on Photoshop in the past.
