I could swear Empress made them, but a search of their website doesn't reveal anything.

Where could I find 28mm Zulu War Scotsmen in kilts and colonial uniforms for Africa?

Thanks for any help!

I was under the impression the Highlanders didn't wear kilts in the Anglo-Zulu War. I'm probably wrong though.

Doc's right… this is what AZW Highlanders looked like:

AHA! That explains it, thanks!

I'm looking for them for a little VSF action actually. Any suggestions for someone wearing a coat similar to the Zulu war red style and a kilt?

Ral Partha made them in "true 25mm" scale. Now made by Great Endeavors?

Have a look at the Perry Brother's Sudan Highlanders.

Only problem with the Perry Highlanders is that they are wearing puttees, though it's actually much easier to add some lower pants legs to a figure than to carve such pants legs into puttees!

Easier -- though slightly smaller scale, and also more expensive -- option would be old Wargames Foundry Zulu War 72nd Highlanders, wearing greatcoats en banderole AND leather ankle leggings (if they happen to be available on the Foundry website at this time). There are about five different 72nd Highlaner figures in the Foundry range, including a piper in kilt, an officer, and 3 different Highland infantrymen. Bigger than Ral Partha but smaller than Perry/Empress.

They look like leggings to me:

Man are they beautiful!!!

But I thought you were suggesting using the Perry Sudan "Indian Dress" infantry, as they are outfitted in old pouch-belt equipment, with greatcoats en banderole, and wear trousers, which can easily be painted like the Campbell tartan pattern pants worn by the 91st during the Zulu War -- that's what i did to build the 72nd Highlanders for 1878 Afghanistan, and sorry I screwed up and referred to the 91st as the 72nd! Personally I'm not aware of any Highland troops wearing kilts in the 1879 Zulu War, other than pipers from the 91st, but I could certainly be wrong.

Agree on the lack of kilts in Zululand, but the OP is looking for AZW-era highlanders in kilt.

Right you are, Flitloque, I just clocked "Zulu War Scots" and didn't pay enough attention to the rest. If someone wants "Zulu War"-era colonial Highlanders in kilts, you are absolutely right in pointing them to the Perry Sudan range. Gorgeous figures, kilts and all. I sit corrected!

If it is VSF you are after then I wouldn't get too wound up over accuracy.
