I'm thinking about jumping into Sharpe Practice with Austrians and French opponents in 28mm.

I love the Front Rank offerings for many periods, but I was just looking at them to put an order in and wondered if maybe there were some better options out there.

Without starting a debate, I'm really only interested in metal figures. I'm also hoping for a variety of poses if possible, but a good looking figure takes precedence. Really, I'm going to have a small project so I want to enjoy painting and I want a nice canvas to do that.

Foundry is out, they look great, but I can't justify that expense.

Any suggestions?

Have you considered Alban Miniatures? They actually have Sharp and Harper in their range of Rifles. (I know, they are not Austrians).

Alban are really nice, and they have both French and Austians! They tend to be more slender and a little shorter than most, still very nice stuff. (I've got several)

oh, and if you ever want to branch out into SP for AWI Der Alte Fritzs line from the same sculpter is really nice too. :)

I have both.. and like both Alban and Front Rank very much… both have a nice range..but there is a significant size difference.. perhaps if there is a picture of both side by side that might help.

I think Front Rank are perfect for SP skirmish games. They are not only beautifully sculpted, but can be obtained as singles and you can get nice poses for skirmish (i.e. not just marching). Otherwise, there are a lot of great choice, like Alban, Perry (metals). I wouldn't give up hope on Foundry – they are indeed nice, and you could find them every now and then on ebay for a decent price. Dean

Thank you Camcleod. I've been thinking about the Offensive casualty figures. Looks like they would be good.

How about some from our range -

I think the Perry metals are pretty fantastic. A large selection for French, more Austrians on the way. Calpe are also very nice, but they don't have Austrians.

I second Perry metals outstanding range. Brigadegames how do they compare to perry in size those figures look great.

jay138. Scaled to work with the Perry range and the Victrix metals (same sculptor so that is a natural.)
