Hello Sirs,
I'm painting some Aventine imperial roman, have you any idea about miniatures to paint like ancient German (Marcomanni for exemple)?
Thanks for your answers.

IMHO Wargames Foundry Ancient Germans are the best, however they are really expensive.

Best wait until they offer them at a sale price and then buy the army deal.

PS. Foundry sales appear quite often these days, make sure you sign up to the newsletter.

Yep, Crusader are nice and they mix well with Foundry.

Aventine will be fairly large next to Foundry but Crusader will be closer if not as detailed.

On the plastic front Wargames Factory are larger then Warlord Games. WF are actually different sculpts whereas WG are the same Celt figures used for pretty much every "barbarian" nation with additional bits thrown in. WF unfortunately has some poorly sculpted arms etc so that they do look a little odd in some circumstances. WG plastics are better sculpts and fit together quite well but are short on accessories like shields, spears etc they also feature many odd cartoonish poses. They are also noticeably smaller figs but can be used in combined WF/WG units.

I think that Aventine might be doing Germans or Gauls . May be Spotter can answer that? Mike

Hi Mike

We have a small range planned to oppose the EIRs, they will be around the end of the yaer I think.

Cheers

Aventine also has a small range of 'Classical' miniatures in the Spartacus range. Some of these guys would be suitable for ancient Germans. Hopefully you could ask Keith for packs made up of the more hirsute individuals? The Classical cavalry look fine as Germans.

The figures are a little smaller than the 'normal' Aventines.
