Very nice! I just picked up several more of your buildings at the Wargaming store in Gettysburg last weekend. Keep them coming.

Thanks, Bryan! The Codori Barn was a real task to complete. I am very pleased with the end result. I am very excited about my next project, the Rose Farm. As far as i know, no one has done the barn before, and since it no longer exists, I will enjoy researching the architecture!

Very nice again! How do you do these so quickly?

Thanks Houdini,
It's not fast enough for me. There is so much that I want to do. I never have enough time!

John, as always, another spectacular effort!

Just a heads up but current research shows that the Codori barn was not red. The red color of the barn is a modern addition. If you plan to use the barn for Gettysburg scenarios you may wan to paint it a weathered grey/white like it was at the time of the battle.

As for the Rose Farm barn, excellent news! The base of the barn was field stone, and it was a bank barn like many others in the area (a bank barn has a raised dirt ramp to an upper second story). The rear of the barn facing the house was overhanging. I have some very old scans of an image of the barn before it was destroyed in the 1930s. I also have a ton of close up photos of the base of the barn now.

I have a special connection with the Rose barn. One of my family members was wounded in the Wheatfield on July 2nd and then captured and taken to the Rose barn by the Confederates. After the war he was awared the Medal of Honor for his actions that day.

jpipes, you are correct about the Codori Barn. I did lots of research and as far as I know, there are only 2 pictures where you can even see the barn. The barn is so distant in both pics that even enlargements won't give you any idea how big it is, the color or any other details. In my research, I found that it was actually much smaller than it is now and was made of logs. After thinking it over and nothing really to go on about it's design, I decided to stay with what is familiar to everyone instead of making up something. When you come to Gettysburg, this is what you see representing the Codori Barn. It IS the Codori barn, just a later version of the original.
jpipes, that is very cool about your connection to the Rose barn! Do the pics you have of the barn in the 30's show it complete? I have not started my research on it yet, but I've never seen pics of it complete, that I remember.
