From the one picture I saw of the 3 ups I couldnt tell if the coming Warlord Romans are Marian/ Caesarians or earlier period Republicans intended for Hannibals Wars? Thanks for any answers.

OK, I've been meaning to ask… I have an idea of what a 3-up is, but why is it called a "3-up"?

MajorB10 May 2012 2:19 a.m. PST

but why is it called a "3-up"?

Because it is three times the size (in linear terms).

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP10 May 2012 2:20 a.m. PST

Im assuming its 3 times the size the figure will be when ultimately produced?

The Dozing Dragon10 May 2012 2:20 a.m. PST

Always look larger than 3 times to me………….

Hadn't heard about new Romans from Warlord…..I would love either Caesarian/Polybian…..but still looking forward to the answer.

When are they due for release?

altfritz10 May 2012 3:27 a.m. PST

Q: will they be the stunted little dwarfs that are the current lot of Warlord Romans when they are produced?

Griefbringer10 May 2012 3:49 a.m. PST

I am not an expert on Romans, but based on the picture I saw, they looked like late republican era Romans.

Apparently there was another manufacturer (Victrix) displaying three-ups for early republican Romans.

Both will probably be released when they are ready (ie. probably not very soon).

Based on the picture here (6th photo down), I would say that these are for the Caesar period (100BC to 50AD) rather than Hannibal period.

The Warlord are Caesarian (late Republic), and the Victrix are Earlier, Punic-war types.

When is the release date?????? Mike

Scutatus10 May 2012 7:56 a.m. PST

Paul Sawyer stated they were Ceasarian.

Thanks to Mick & Scutatus for clearing that up. Good news indeed. I much prefer Marian/ Caesarian armies to the earlier Republican ones!

ScottS10 May 2012 3:23 p.m. PST

Those Victrix Romans – further down – DO look like Polybian Romans.

Oh, well, there goes a paycheck.

It will be nice to finally have some decent Romans to fight all those plastic Celts out there!

Yes, absolutely.

I'd still love to see some Punic Wars era plastic Romans. (They fight Celts too!) ;)

Scutatus11 May 2012 8:20 a.m. PST

Oh and me bad. It's Caesarian. The a comes before the e. I know this but so often miss spell it. Sheesh.

CooperSteveOnTheLaptop11 May 2012 2:19 p.m. PST

Do Caesarian Romans cut open their enemies stomachs?

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP11 May 2012 8:14 p.m. PST

Hee hee.

Pedrobear11 May 2012 11:00 p.m. PST

"Do Caesarian Romans cut open their enemies stomachs?"

Yes. Hardcore unit. Normally only deployed when the walls are in a breech position.

To echo Legion1950, did anyone at Salute catch a release date?

LEGION 195019 May 2012 11:51 a.m. PST

I guess we can not get a ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mike Adams

Griefbringer19 May 2012 1:12 p.m. PST

I am quite sure that they will be released once they are ready.

LEGION 195020 May 2012 5:26 a.m. PST

"My birth was a scary'un…
Because I was born a Caesarean…
It hasn't affected me in life so far
But I climb out the sunroof when I get out the car…
Born… on the Dudley Road…
Born… on the Dudley Ro-oh-ode…"
