Has anyone sculpted a crew like this yet?
YouTube link YouTube link Or would it be a matter of just adding little shoulder pads to naked 15mm and then paint them to look like they are wearing a uniform? TMP link Dan PS. I wonder if anyone has purposely written 15mm SF rules to play out as comedy . . . hmm. |

The lander/shuttle should be easy enough, right?
TMP link Dan PS. I wish I was good at estimating actual size of the shuttle pod craft from those pics. |

I just love that scene of their one and only away mission, to the mining planet: YouTube link But can you imagine all the crazy adventures you can make your 15mm Galaxy Quest-is crew go through! First, however, . . . there's the question about suitable GQ-ish figures for your exciting away missions. One would need, at the very least, figures to represent 1) a lady, 2) a captain, 3) a humanoid alien and 4) three crazy dudes (one of which will be "Guy", of course): link link Of course, add to that a shuttle pod, exotic terrain and alien creatures, etc. But just as important is a wild set of rules that will be in the fun spirit of GQ. I know I can't be the only one with that dream. So, I ask you guys, can it be done??? Will anyone make this a reality in 15mm? Dan |

PS. I wonder if anyone has purposely written 15mm SF rules to play out as comedy . . . hmm. Warhammer 40K. a running gag.

Except that the people who knew 40k was a big running gag no longer work at GW. |

purposely written 15mm SF rules to play out as comedy Not 15mm that I know of, but one of the original not-ST RPGs from the 70s was really easy to play to the stereotypes. I'll have to dig out that issue of Different Worlds. |
Cacique Caribe | 08 May 2012 5:20 p.m. PST |
Farstar, I would love to hear some examples of how it was. Thanks, Dan |
Farstar | 08 May 2012 5:22 p.m. PST |
I want to say it was Starships & Spacemen, but I could be wrong. An early issue of Different Worlds (I want to say #4) had one GM's take on building a session for the game. "Kirk on Karrit II" was a blast to read, and the author made it sound like playing to the ST stereotypes was trivial in the game. |

Looks about 8.5 – 9 feet high to me, off the ground, and about a 3:1 ratio of length to height, so say 24 – 27 feet. That matches nicely with the length of the Star Trek Galileo Shuttle as well, from Johnny Lightning. I suppose that may not be a coincidence. Width, including the engines seems to me to be about 1:1 in terms of width to height, so about 8 – 9 feet wide too. The front portion of the shuttle seems to only be about 6 – 7 feet wide, if that. You could probably make a quick cardboard or paper mockup, to get the proportions right, or do a bit more math and angle estimating, from the photos shown, if you're into that. |

Funny movie. Great idea for a humorous RPG. |

Really would like one of those lander craft and the little baby-cute-killer aliens would be perfect. |
Cacique Caribe | 09 May 2012 2:27 p.m. PST |
"and the little baby-cute-killer aliens would be perfect" I'm with you there!!! I almost bought Khurasan imps for their size alone, but it would take too much work to make those things look cute. Dan |

You're welcome, I Wish you luck in your endeavour and please don't hesitate to ask me if you need any information that's not on my website right now. I've got a lot more it's just I've not quite had time the past couple months to get everything uploaded. ha ha ha I'm getting there tho! You can reach me any time through the Guestbook or reply to a comment on my site. Did you plan on making some of these, because I'd love to see someone make something like this. After looking through this site I'm kinda interested in trying my hand at some miniatures. Never Give up, Never surrender! -Luke J. Reeves Galaxy-Quest.Webs.Com |
