Irrational Number Line Games' Idea of the Week uses some newly released scifi marine figures and adapts them for some more extreme use.

sorry, that paint job isn't working, it might be bad photo's but it just looks a mess. I like the use of skellie heads though. |

Those are the closest thing to identifiably human heads I've ever seen on a DFG figure. Way to upgrade them! |

Thanks all. The extreme environment guys have a layer of filth on them, which might be what the "sloppy" look is. (1) I couldn't imagine being in that harsh an environment and not having patina, smuge, ash, and filth all over the outside (which is one of the points of having a hermetically sealed extereme environment suit), (2) they looked way too four-color comics all shiny (not that I am against four-color comic look minis, just not these ones). The skellies were fun. The heads were done by the same sculptor who did the maines (including their heads). |

A Judoon platoon on the Moon (from Dr Who) I love exploring sites like Irrational – you get lots of great ideas. The Rhino men (cheap plastic Rhino heads on Ork bodies) are just what I need to supplement my Judoon force – I will form a Judoon commando/assault Unit. I had been forming my Judoon for small policing actions but , as usual, I might now extend beyond my three simple squads. I currently have Micro_universe ships (3x), officers(3x) and troopers (x11) supported by a number of K-9 units (x3), some Doctor who Adventures Judoon (x8) and some baby Rhinos (x3) as transport. Sort of a Judoon platoon! Clearly I need to build into an armoured recon company. I will get a few larger Rhinos for weapons platforms and for armouring up to be "tanks", get some more troopers and transports. I need to look at transformers/beast wars type figures that might also be useful in the "tank" role (I am thinking a helmeted armoured Rhino that I think I recall from my kids transformers sets but this was a long time ago). |
