I am producing a model diorama in 25mm scale of the Battle of Borodino. The completed model of some 1,200 will be about 1.8 x 1.8 metres and I'm off to Moscow on the 25th to see the actual site prior to putting the model together in June / July. The Russian Embassy in London are going to display the model at their new Culture Centre. Q: Did the Portuguese carry french flags and an eagle? |

Sorry, no answer to your inquiry after 68 hits thus far. What a unique venue for your diorama, which I hope to see when complete. |

Check Gonsalvo's blog, "blundersonthedanube" He just did a unit up, along with a short unit history. |

I checked that too. He makes the conclusion there was no evidence la legion portuguese was issued a flag or eagle. I must say, my google-fu has also failed me. Lots of info on uniforms etc, even Rene Chartrand in his 3 volume Osprey set on the Portuguese army is silent on the question of Legion standards. Now, mind you, the Irish Legion had a flag, so, logic would dictate they had something. |

You could try posting in the Napoleonic Discussion forum under "Portugese Legion", that might get more of the button-counters' attention
