I know someone suggested that the Maunsell Sea Forts off the English coast would make sites for great post-ice melt survivors to live in, but they don't look tall enough to me:

If all ice melted, sea levels would rise about 100 meters.

Tell me if that doesn't get your Post-Apocalyptic Pirate juices going!

Can you imagine something like this, but with ruined tall buildings protruding out of the water instead of all-natural rock spires and cliffs?

I absolutely love how the water color was done. I can't find the tutorial for the painting of the water though.

Terrain boards like that are almost cruel,

You could use paper buildings for a layout and designs, nice thing about paper you can cut it to what you want you don't like the look just reprint another one and start over, then work on making the buildings out of plastic stock using the paper ones as templates.

As for the terrain board play around with your paints on a glass pane, then you can just scrape off and wash, till you get the the look and feel that you want

Dan, the water looks like its made from the plastic light covers for ceiling lights. Then painted on the underside save for the bits right around the islands which might be a touch of white ontop of the texture.

I know a lot of people who use that technique for water boards or large sections of water.

Initially, I was planning on something like this for the water:

I'm sure there would still be a lot to loot in a flooded metropolis:

Oh I sure there is plenty of loot laying around

The first picture of the post of materials, the blue roll stuff there, reading the size of it would work with the plastic drop ceiling lighting IIRC they are 2x3 foot as well so all you would have to do is just lay them out and glue them

Guys,

Today I gave Gillette Fusion Proglide razors a try, and guess what!

As I removed the wrap I noticed that the rigid portion of the packaging was the perfect size and shape for a small boat. Even one of the inserts can serve as template for the decks.

Has anyone tried using such a mundane package to make a boat?

Leland/Black Widow Pilot probably has, CC.

It's a real shame that those razors are so bloody expensive, cost-inefficient to make multiples (unless you happen to have a couple soon-to-be-shaving sons in the house!)

I've also found that those various blister packs are easy to form in boiling or near-boiling water, so they can make great sails.

Just wondering …

Has anyone tried clear adhesive Con-Tact Paper to protect surfaces that have been painted like water?

I believe this boat might work for 15mm:

Thoughts?

Looks like it would be close to use 15mm, drop the deck guns for something smaller

Psyckosama03 Jul 2014 12:46 p.m. PST

Try this badboy. Would need a full repaint and conversion to detail it afterwards but would probably look damned good as the PC "mothership"
