Just back from RECON in Orlando (www.hmgs-south.com). At the flea market some one was blowing out his collection of DVDs. Picked up "The Winter War" and "The Bridge" for $4 USD each! After some of the comments here on those two films seems like a steal and looking forward to watching them. |

"The Winter War" is one of the best war movies ever made. "The Bridge"
not so much. Still an interesting film, though. |

Great find. "The Winter War" is fantastic. Very interesting seeing the Soviet equipment in action. "The Bridge" is entertaining for when it was made. For $4 USD you got a great deal. Always wanted to run that as a skirmish game. The story is from the directors experience in W.W. II. "The Bridge" was recently remade (2011?) in color and has a bigger budget than was available with the original. |

Oddball, I am pretty sure you DID run that as a skirmish game 10-15 years ago. I certainly remember it was basically loads of untrained but fanatical Volks vs. some very switched on Americans. It did not go well for the kids! I may even have pictures of that game. |

FYI Besides the movie, Winter War was also made for Finnish TV. It had five 50 minute episodes so there is plenty more material in it than in the movie. It has been released in Finland as a 244min two disc DVD, but it didn't have any foregign subtitles. Don't know if it has been internationally released
(doubt it) During December I did a subtitling test and translated the first half of the first episode to one of my Canadian friends. Tedious work that; half an hour work for some 5 minutes or so
