Started off as a model for the boy several years ago. It was so rough I was going to make it a crashed plane for terrain. Never finished, last week I scooped it up and converted it into
THIS:
(crossed fingers hopefully it works) The close up is of a ramp in the back, for loading cargo, and combines with a hook for naval landings. Note the triple front propeller for more power. Three is better than one. |

After seeing them here I got some more pictures, hopefully these are better:

Very inspiring! I'm looking forward to seeing it progress. |

Great idea and execution. Only the propeller look to small for an Orkish vehicle (to me). |

A 40K vehicle that has actual aerodynamic surfaces! Good show! |

The landing wheels are too heavy. And I don't think they will retract, as there isn't room. And the pitch of the props are incorrect. (You know I'm kidding :) ) |

It took me a lot of willpower to use wheels that were way too big and propellers that were way too small. I figured it had to make little to no sense. And since the propeller is too small I used three to overcome the lack of powah. Putting them really close together helps the prop wash I'm sure. The guns are small (original .50 cal), but I haven't found anything to mount on the bomb racks yet so I'm still looking. Hopefully I will have some rokkits or bomz to add. I used Testor's Chrome to try and get a nice shiny silver going but it turns out that enamels are too thick in the pot and after I looked at it dry it really shows the brush strokes. Now I'm paralyzed while trying to decide whether to work on the color or change it. |

I would ink it. Knock it down with the Citadel black ink, then go over the engines with Devlan Mud ink to show dirt and exhaust accumulation. LOL! I seriously doubt that maintenance is high on an Ork's priority list and it would give it a used look! On the other hand and you have an airbrush, I would use the silver as a base and then spot paint it using mechrite red as red wunz always go fasta. Not the entire aircraft, but enough to make the silver look like metal wear that would take place on control surfaces, highly removed parts or hatches, and the leading edges. Oh, and it looks great! I will need to show this to our resident Ork player! Larry |

This is inspirational, as others have said. I love the idea, and the work you have done. If I were to do one, I'd bring the cock put right up to the edge of the wings, so the pilot is sitting at the forward edge of the wing. You end up with an abridged aircraft. I think it would look very "orky." Naval landings! Fantastic – an Ork aircraft carrier, or even an zepplin aircraft carrier. What scale is this aircraft? I can see it goes well with the 40K scale. |

Thats the old Mongram kit, ain't it? The P-39 would be a good choice as well, it has a detailed engine |

It is Monogram, 1/48th scale so essentially perfect for the 28mm figs. The pilot is an old Trukk driver so he's a tad small for the current line. |

Needs more Orky stuff on it. |

Based on the new model of the fighta-bomma my model is far more Orky. I would love to have more stuff, however, but there is a limit to what would go on it and still look flyable. |

Nice work Ratbone. Some more Gunz and perhaps bigger propellers would work a treat. Here's my similar effort, perhaps it will inspire you to keep plugging away at yours
?
