I always like the Maori Army. They resistance was heroic, the "trench" warfare was a new concept that we then see in WW1.

The statement about Maori inventing trench warfare is controversial. The claim was originally made by a NZ academic, but is argued against by many military historians, who (quite rightly in my view) point to trench warfare having been round for centuries before then.
