From the Hollywood Theater website in Portland Oregon: 'Tuesday, Apr 24, 2012 7:30 PM On Tuesday April 24th at 7:30pm, the Grindhouse Film Festival presents a rare 35mm print of King Kong vs. Godzilla! Advance tickets are strongly recommended as this show will probably sell out. King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962) Godzilla breaks free from an iceberg and heads straight to Tokyo to start tearing the city apart. Meanwhile, a pharmaceutical company captures King Kong and brings him to Japan. It's only a matter of time before he breaks free, and we see a colossal collision between the two mightiest monsters of all time!!! Directed by the great Ishiro Honda. 35mm monster trailers before the movie!' And I can tell you that the theater itself is like walking back in time to that era. It will be fantastic! |

Sounds awesome, but that's a bit of a drive for me. ;) -Ken Radioactive Press |

This is one of my favorite Kaiju movies. I have never been able to see it on the big screen. One of my local art house theaters has brought several of the classics over the years (Destroy All Monsters, Smog Monster etc.) I am so jealous. Being from Wisconsin, Portland is also a tad too far to drive. :) |

This will be my second viewing of this in a theater. When I was a child my dad used to take me to a nearby town where this one theater used to show all the Godzilla (and other Kaiju) movies. Some of my best childhood memories. My youngest son is a huge Kaiju fan as well and I am taking him to see his first Godzilla movie on the big screen (he has seen them all on DVD). Life is good. |
