For what seems like ever I've wanted to try my hand at casting resin terrain pieces, I've just never gotten round to it until now.
This morning I google-ed some trailer park pictures then set about my pile of plastic with Stanley and I'm now well on the way to completing my first purpose made patterns, 1 large trailer with 2 different roof types, 1 retro trailer and a container, I reckon that I still have another day's work to complete them. Once these pieces are finished I want to build another large trailer that will fit under the roofs I already have, make a third roof and 2 or 3 scenic bases, this will potentially allow 19 different trailer/roof/base combos. I hope to start casting in 2 weeks.
Over the coming weeks I will, no doubt, be back plaguing you guys for casting advice, but until them here's a few pictures of the work in progress.
Cheers

Rooms to let, fifty cents…

You need one twisted apart by tornadoes.

Or just leave 'em in the front yard; it'll happen on its own.

(Nice work!)

Look good to me!

Looks great. Put that Hummer up on cinder blocks and the kids will have a tree house.

Retro trailer is pretty cool looking.

Not items see see a lot of, which I think is surprising considering the gaming potential.

Yup, I really like the retro trailer too. Now you need to make some of those little tin sheds that everybody keeps their lawnmowers in.

Do not forget the pink flamingo models!

Nice set you have – looking forward to the paint job.

A few ideas on standard mobile home design…

Take a look at your first pic…

In the front is usually a large window. Trailers of the 1970's-1980s usually had a small window or bay window. From the 80's on up, it seems one large windown…

Then there is another window on either side before you get to the door, (we're going from right to left.

After the door you'll have a small window for the kitchen

Then you'd have a smaller quarter size window for the bathroom.

Followed by a windown in the back for the back bedroom

Thats for a standard 2 br trailer…

On the back side opposite where the bathroom window would be would be a panel where the hot water heater would be…

Not that I know anything about trailers and trailer parks and stuff mind you….

Very promising. I especially like the retro trailer, and the options for the trailers. The pitched roof one looks like a portable construction office. Keep up the good work, and keep us posted.

I like the work, but for reproduction I think that it might do better as some sort of template or pre-cut plasticard sheet (like paper models but with less folding) than as resin. Especially since big flat pieces would really highlight any casting flaws (bubbles, etc.).

Thanks for the tips on trailer lay out Murphy, I'll keep it in mind for the next one and I was thinking of doing some accessories including a bay window.
@RST
There are no longer any flat plains, they are now panelled just like the real thing
I've did a bit more work on them today some bits, the panelling went well, other bits less so, but I've had a rethink and I have a solution.
Thanks for the interest and encouragement and I'll keep you posted
Cheers

If you are UK based and ever want to sell some of those once you have them cast up, i'd be interested

Are these to be cast solid or as a 'kit'? The look great by the way.

Then you have to start on the lawn furniture and old appliances.

These are for 15mm, right?

If so, I want to be able to hide figures inside the units, so the Feds and Aliens don't have a clue as to what awaits them when they enter.

So units with a large room (to represent everything outside of the bedroom, and a smaller partition for the bedroom area works for me. If when the roof is lifted, part of the top of the walls lifts with it as a single piece, that will greatly help access and move the figures that may be inside.

Just a few details that would make the units perfect for my goals:

Thanks,

Dan
PS. I do like the idea mentioned above, of a simple kit with pre-cut and pre-punched plasticard and corner joints. Paper doesn't appeal to me, but plastic sheets do!
