How often do you give away your miniatures to others and what qualifies them to you to receive your models?

I have given about a dozen over the past year to the kids in the neighborhood, another dozen to a friend of mine and his son. I painted up a 28mm Viking warband and gave it away as a Xmas gift for my son-in-law.

If I feel that a young friend of one of my sons has shown an interest or had a particularly good time I will give him a few mins maybe even custom paint a mini for him or give him minis to paint. It is well worth the effort in spreading interest in the hobby!

p.s. After last year's Huzzah where my son did a great job at the Viking raid he was practically showered with nice minis and even a ship by the GM and fellow gamers. And we got some unpainted forces which have subsequently been painted up. These little kindnesses have helped solidify a future gamer.

A couple of years ago, I painted up a set of mercenaries for Marauder6 and included a nice box for them to stay in until deployed..

That's the last time I've done it.

I try to do it, but most of the gamers around me don't play the games I do…

Liking what I do is often enough ..

When I acquired large amounts of Starship Troopers figures for dirt cheap I gave a couple of my friends their own Mobile Infantry platoons. Other than that, I think it's mostly been a box here or a figure there as Christmas gifts.

I've given things away over the years to kids who have expressed an interest in gaming.

I've given minis to (non-annoying) kids at my flea market tables (not without a parental nod of approval, though)

I really like painting stuff for the Toys for Tots auction.

Last Christmas, I gave a few figures, painted & unpainted to my gaming buddies.

I figured they deserved something for putting up with me.

When my son was still with me, I gave him and friends any extra figures I didn't need(marching, drummers, firing, etc) to paint while I did.

I just gave him an early Bday gift of a painted un-Billy Jack. He loved it(so he said).
