My new blog about the tumultuous history of Bananas-Ciutad between 1936 et 1938

link

Bananas-Ciutad is an independent hispanic enclave between Kenya and Tanganyika, in the mouth of Topocolo, swampy river bounding steppes Pinocolado in the North and rain forest of MonoKong in the South. The enclave consists mainly of the city of Bananas, but bordering territories and islands and cliffs of Chopos too

Sounds really cool.

Just a couple of tips on the name of the city.

"Bananas Ciutad"? Are you trying to say Banana City? If so, "city" is "ciudad", with a "d" not a "t".

Also, if you want it to make sense to most people, reverse the order of the words to read "Ciudad Bananos" (yes, "bananos" are masculine) or, better yet, "Ciudad Bananera" (banana production city).

Hope it helps.

It's ok…. but i don't undestand, i write bananas ciutad not ciutat no?
In fact I'm french and i think that in french, Bananas- Ciutad sound really good (perhaps just for me !?!??) :):):)
(i don't speak spanish … hum i think english no much more ;))And (just like autochtons :)) i say Bananas to simply
but thank to you

You wrote "Ciutad" and Cacique Caribe told you that the right spelling is "ciudad". "Ciutat" would be Catalan for "city" while "ciudad" is the Spanish translation of "city".

Also Cacique Caribe is right when he tells you about revesing the order; it looks a bit silly if you say "Bananas Ciudad" UNLESS you join the words, so "Bananaciudad" would look right if wacky (which may be the sense you are looking for). In English it would translate as "Bananacity" or even "Bananatown", not so implausible (if, again, funny).

The pronunciation changes a lot from the French "cité", more like in "roder", and pronouncing the last "d" of course. By the way, the "banano", "bananos" in plural, is the tree producing the "banana", "bananas" in plural. If "Ciudad Bananas" (whichever is its definitive name) is an African "Hispanic enclave", its name should follow Spanish morfology after all.

For us Catalans Ciutat too sounds better, because we are used to such phonetics, but they are not Spanish phonetics but more like Occitan, the Langue d'Oc, and thus a bit alike French, the Langue d'Oïl. They sound alien to Spanish speakers.

Artekaos,

It works for me, what can be better than a African "Banana Republic!?" There are enough factions to keep players busy.

How many players will be partaking in games, and what rules have you decided to use?

Hmm, a world without the Treaty of Tordesillas. Perhaps worry less about the spelling of ciudad/ciutad/ciutat and rework it as Portuguese, Cidade de Bananas?

Artekaos11 Apr 2012 4:58 a.m. PST

the rules are Use me .. in fact a compilation of all the use me rules from western to zombie, heldricht … …
Sorry for all the languages oriented posts… but i like my Bananas Ciutad … I prefere Spanish to Portuguese and don't worry about tordessilas treaty… it's just a little forgotten town :):)
in few hours some pics of Puerto Bananas and don't say me that the correct words is Porto Bananas (This is a spanish not portuguese enclave!!! :))or Bananas Puerto, I'm a good friend of Alberto Porfiro the only ruler of Bananas and he has the only truth !!! :):):)

"I'm a good friend of Alberto Porfiro the only ruler of Bananas and he has the only truth !!!"

Man, are you in for a fun ride! :)

Besides, I think there's going to be a clear winner in all of this:
