Hey lads
to the endearment of the easily amused, bemoaned nostalgics and better painters than I (almost everyone, that is..) I've uploaded an update of my HQ painting project here
The video might be a bit long (I'm still learning that part of it, actually) but wanted to post this update anyway for anyone interested in the MB 1989 classic
Thanks for reading, may your dice roll well
Happy Easter!

What a coincidence, I am also painting up a Heroquest set.

I like your idea in the video to use some of the LOTR Characters & Mantic Zombies to replace the original miniatures.

I think you may also like Otherworld.

Thanks for your replies
Yes, it's great to see that in 2012 HQ is still painted and played!
Wow that's a NICE set! Have you done the furniture as well yet? I've chosen the (sigh!) longer route of painting each miniature in different colours. Looking at yours though even having all Orcs and Goblins in red, say, certainly looks great.

Eventually I'd actually like to replace all the figures – keeping the others for nostalgia purposes, of course, but they look a lot like "game pieces" – if you get what I mean. I have eight poses of Goblins, so why not use those instead I told myself? Four Chaos Warriors I can get on ebay really easily and so forth…

Shame we're on opposite sides of the world, finding players here is a little hard in Melbourne. But I have faith I'll get some games in, and when I do I want to have the set done as it's always been one of those "someday, when I grow up…" projects
Another is Advanced Heroquest, which I'm also doing, and soon I'd like to get Space Crusade as well. The figures were SHOCKING, though (androids and dreadnought aside) so I'll replace all the Marines with newer ones

Cheers!

Heroquest is a good fun game. I am sure you will be able to find some players. I usually play with my son.

I wanted to paint the figures based on the box art. Most were OK but the magic user is quite complex. I have not painted the furniture yet. I was looking for replacement pieces in resin but have not found any that I like.

I have collected some Otherworld figures as replacements but these are more for show than playing. Otherworld also make excellent Goblins, Mummies and Skeletons.

I also have Space Crusade and have painted the original figures.
