I'm going to try to paint all 205 figures before the end of the month- I'm away for a few days, so it's well over 10 figures a day. I'll be using the dip for the first time and learning as I go!

Day 1- Prepping…

I'll post updates on this thread, with full gory details on my blog, Wargaming with Barks.

Heckle me as I struggle, it'll be fun!

That's quite a challenge. I look forward to seeing the results.

Really not so hard. If you are dipping, you could get those guys painted to a reasonable standard within two weeks. I did.

Are they different to the figures in the LotR Risk game?

And good luck – look forward to seeing the outcome

Good job. I'm having my Star Wars Monopoly set figures & buildings painted up. I think it enhances the game. Not sure when I'll have a chance to play with it. I'll probably end up giving it away to my Nephews. But they will enjoy it, and hopefully not chew the pieces ;-)

Thanks guys!

@Green Askari- I'm hoping the dip will speed things up for me considerably as you say.

@Marc- the figures are different, yes.

@Chortle- I agree, painted figures really enhance boardgames (compared to raw plastic figures)

Today- more prepping…

@Barks: In a strange way, the dip gives you a lot of detail, but also maxes the detail you can put on a figure.

Not that I think this is a bad thing. At gaming distance, dip detail is as good as finely painted detail.

Didn't mean to sound snarky. Have fun!

@Green Askari: No worries, I can really see myself getting on the dip bandwagon to make so many projects more viable for me, as time is often my limiting factor.

Onwards! Today- spray undercoating and a test of the basecoat.

Saw your blog. Looks like they are coming out quite nice indeed!

I did a trial dip- I'm happy with the orc, but not the elf… I'd really appreciate some advice from experienced dippers…

Today I had a painting frenzy; not only did I finish Isengard but I pushed onto the Ringwraiths and characters!
