Hello,

The scale in discussion is 15mm. I would like a well equipped OPFOR force to take on my 1990ish NATO forces. The NATO forces consist of M1A1s, Bradley M2A2s, Challenger 1s, and Warrior IFVs.

I envision a hypothetical South American force with lots of money to buy the top of the line Russian equipment, such as BMP-3s, BTR-80As, and T-72M2s with the nice advance ERA armor.

Finding a proper tank model is causing the issue. There is no T-90, T-80U, or T-72 model in 15mm with the advance ERA.

I see several options here.

1. Use the QRF T-72M2 and scratch build the Kontakt-5 ERA panels onto it.

2. Use Khurasan Miniatures Red banner tank as some kind of advance "Black Eagle" what if variant from Ukraine. Of course the laser armed variant is out.

3. Wait and hope. =)

Are they any other options I am not aware of?
What would you suggest as the best option to choose?

Thanks

I thought very hard about doing a Battlefield 2/3 style near future e.g. 2030 conflict between Russia and US and hit exactly the same snag you have. I really needed the T-90, or at least the T-80, and after looking and looking could't find it anywhere.

Someone really, really, really needs to make one.

Oh man, I had managed to forget about that Khurusan tank. Mostly by hitting myself with a hammer.

Thanks for reminding me that I should get one or three of them. :/

We do have a T-72 with the earlier ERA on it. I'm hoping to sort out the later Kontakt 5 version(s) later this year

Any plans for the T-80 or T-90?

Kontakt-5 looks so much cooler than the original Kontakt-1 bricks.

Also the increased effectiveness would help game balance against the Western tanks.

See how slick T-72 looks with the advance ERA. =)

Just getting a few other projects out the way and hope to add the T-90 when I redo the postwar and modern Soviets/Russians.

I have a question for the Soviet/Russian threadheads.

Can you take a T-80B, add the ERA plates and make a T-80U?

Are there more fundamental external differences in the tanks?

Would they apear at 15mm scale?

Thanks
