I'm prompted to post last week's decision to put these 2mm on the 'curiosities' shelf by today's 'what is a miniature' poll TMP link

(Irregular 2mm infantry blocks)

These are, to me, most definitely miniatures, and you can (clearly) paint details like shield colours, faces etc. I just decided that for my purposes, they are simply too small.

I bought them a while back to experiment with for a naval project I am now decided on doing in 10mm. So they will go on the collectible curiosities shelf.

Here's some chums to give a sense of scale

To the left, some Baggage Train Norman 10mm. To the right, some Irregular WSS 6mm.

BTW there are 80 figures on that little stand grin They have a unique charm I think.

I am battling starting some 2mm gaming.
Must resist..

As you say, when you look at them up close there is indeed a good level of detail considering the size.

I played with 2mm for a project a while back. They look fine from a distance, I just had a hard time not looking at them up close and being disappointed everytime I did. I'm much happier with 6mm and 10mm where I can get the closeup detail I want.

2mm is a sweet scale. Quick to paint, easy to stage big battles in small space. After buying some blackpowder figs from Angel Barracks last year, I painted them up in no time flat, and have been gaming Frederick the Great's wars in a mere 1m x 1.5m space (about 3' x 5'):

Oh, now … KniazSuvorov … that's just plain subversive!

I'm with Leidang as the OP indicated but I have no argument to put up against those pictures. Great stuff!

wow

Look at all that 2mm, how cool is that lot!

Justin Penwith05 Apr 2012 12:27 p.m. PST

I want that fortified city! Is it custom or commercial?

jerardad05 Apr 2012 12:58 p.m. PST

Wow, that really does show me what 2mm can do.

Altius05 Apr 2012 1:12 p.m. PST

Very nice, though! 6mm is the smallest I've gone, but I see that those tinier ones look great too.

KniazSuvorov,
Great looking pictures. What rules are you using? Are they hex movement?

My Maurice/When the Navy Walked figures will definitely be from Irregular's 2mm Horse and Musket range. Its too good to pass up.

LeadAsbestos05 Apr 2012 4:28 p.m. PST

Nope. Too small.

darthfozzywig05 Apr 2012 5:09 p.m. PST

Wow, Kniaz, nice set up!

Kniaz Suvorov,

How do you do it? That is a magnificent spectacle, as always for me made by the effort devoted to the flags. Congratulations.

2mm for me is just like a board game. I do this hobby for the figures.

Angel Barracks06 Apr 2012 4:49 a.m. PST

2mm figures are still figures, just not big enough for you maybe?
