What book on the battle has the most and best maps of Leipzig? I've got a rough outline for my game boards but want source for lots of little details to ad. And i don't want to buy a book and end up with two cruddy maps.

As a tip I have two Ospreys on the battle.
One is Parker and Gilder 1979.
It has mainly black and white maps of the battle. With such details as roads, command locations, rivers and woods. Its been designed for the war gamer. I believe you'd find it usful if you can get hold of one.
Two is a Hofschroer 1993.
It has more pleasing to the eye colour 3D maps. They are all miss orientated. EG North could be pointing bottom right or what ever direction. Their is no indicator. You actually have to know the lay of the land to use them. There are other maps in 2D of the campaign and they tend to be more traditional and let you know which way is north, but not all of them. (because that would be telling)

Check out the Old OSG and Clash of Arms Boardgames on the battle if I recall pretty decent maps.

Yes, any edition of Kevin Zucker's Leipzig game is a good start. He is working on a new version so you might be able to pick up an older edition on the cheap. Kevin also has a "Special Study" available on 1813, but I'm not sure the maps will be useful for making a game board.

Loraine Petre's book has some nice maps, although I'm not sure if they are included in this free online version:

Not a book itself, but of possible interest.

Frederick Shoberl's

'Narrative of the Most Remarkable Events Which Occurred in and Near Leipzig Immediately Before, During and Subsequent to, the Sanguinary Series of Engagements Between the Allied Armies and the French From the 14th to the 19th October, 1813"

has some great contemporary maps that were drawn up at the time.

They had really snappy titles for books in those days!

I have an original copy. This is a book that is also available on Google Books. I am not sure if the Google copy includes the maps as they are hand coloured multi-fold attachments glued into the covers.

A more readily available source would be Nafzigers 'Napoleon at Leipzig" which has good maps and orders of battle.
